Do you let your pet sleep with you? Poll

With our newest family member (a big fluffy cat), DH is so against it. I can't say I blame him. But then I think maybe wouldn't mind waking up with a cuddly cat curled up at the end of the bed.

Anyway, a poll.

I love it, DH doesnt but only b/c my dog hovers on top of him and pushes him to the edge of the bed. Even though I love it, I have to admit, they can be very very annoying. I probably would not start it if it is with a new pet.

I do love my dogs furry body next to mine though...however, it's really not a great idea for many reasons.

Yes and no. When we first got sushi, DH was completely opposed (he has allergies). He wouldnt even let her in our bedroom during the day. "No kitty zone" When I got pregnant, and was on bed rest, I started "sneaking" her in during the day. Begrudgingly, DH became ok with it. But she's not really a snuggler (except on me) and prefers to sleep on top of the cable box. With the addition of Miso, we attempted to have both kitties but Sushi wont "play nice" and we kept getting woken up by cat fights on the bed (I have a scar to prove it). So now, the bedroom is a "No Miso Zone" only.

when we first got our dog, i didn't want him sleeping on the bed but DH did. he slept in his dog bed for a few months, then DH put him in our bed a few times and he was hooked! now he whines/cries if he's not sleeping in our bed with us.

When we adopted Charlie last year she was so afraid of being alone. We tried to crate train her and she would cry all night long. My FIL lives with us and he was sick of the crying, so we finally started taking her into the bed with us and it worked out great. She doesn't take up a lot of room, she weighs 15 lbs. And we've both gotten so used to it...I toss and turn a lot since I'm pregnant and I love waking up in the middle of the night and getting to pet my furry pooch.

Yes, my cat Bella snuggles up against my side when we sleep. She will not sleep between DH and me or on DH's side of the bed.

I wish he would. But when ever either of us lays down on the couch he thinks is play time and play attacks us. He also is afraid of the bed for some reason. I think its too high for him!

I have no choice.. he's on the bed before us. If we close the door when we are in bed, he will bang at the door and throw himself at the door until we open it.. and his meaows become pleading almost, and I can't take it. So we let him come in and around 3am, I take him to his bed.. and he'll sleep there after that.

Sometimes when we get ready for bed, he's waiting by the bedroom door to be let in.. but

I barely like to share the bed with my husband, so no, we don't let the dog sleep with us at night (she's 55lbs).

However if we take her away with us she usually winds up sleeping with us because otherwise she never really settles down. She sometimes gets to cuddle on the bed for a little bit too lately, but we always make her go back to her bed for the night.

Toby used to sleep with us only once and a while but now, its not even a choice...he puts himself to bed before we even get in there! He think's he's a lap dog although at 85 lbs..he's far from. But, he's the best cuddler in the world and so we are okay with it. Lenny- our cat- will sleep by our feet but that's as far as he cares to cuddle

When we only had our pomeranian, he was allowed to sleep with us. We'd leave his crate open and sometimes he'd sleep in there but usually he'd sleep by our feet or on the floor by the bed

Then we got our cockapoo and we felt bad that he'd have to be crated while our pom was loose. The cockapoo was a puppy so we couldn't trust him to be uncrated.

Soon after we bought our first house and now they are not allowed to sleep with us because of all the fur in our bedroom. We do let them hang out with us in bed on weekend mornings

Sometimes when I'm just napping I'll let them come up with me too

We used to...the cat and the dog me and DH on a queen bed. Not fun. Then we got a new mattress and banned them. They slept on the floor in our room. They were a little upset at first but they got over it.

I love cuddling with my dogs and I know they love it, too. As soon as I get up from the computer or the couch I say to them "C'mon, let's go to bed." and they race me to the room. Lucy, our pit mix, absolutely cannot get close enough to DH and I in bed. She will literally lay on top of us if we let her. I will admit that it is really annoying sometimes. DH and Lucy both love to cuddle with me and I hate to cuddle while I sleep, just while I'm falling asleep. I try to roll away and they just follow! lol! So, usually at some point in the night, I make Lucy move back down to the foot of the bed and make DH move back over to his side. Both are usually visibly annoyed!

Our collie mix, Irwin, on the other hand, is ideal. He doesn't like to sleep on the bed itself, he likes to sleep in the doorway by the foot of the bed, the little protecter he is. But, when we adopted him, my work schedule was different. DH worked from 8 AM-3 PM and I worked from 12PM- 8PM. So Irwin got used to the idea of sleeping on the floor and then as soon as DH gets out of bed, Irwin climbs in and lays in his spot. Every morning without fail. Now DH only gets up about 1/2 hour before me, but Irwin still steals his spot for that half hour!

But I love having the pups sleep with us. And DH loves it, too. He complains, but I always catch him calling them up on the bed. On the rare occasions that Irwin sleeps with us, I just look around at all four of us in the bed and it melts my heart. I love having the whole family cuddled in there.

When I had just one dog, I used to let him sleep with me... but the minute I got two - it was simply too much dog hair on the bed!

Now, with four babies (2 dogs, 2 cats).. We will let the dogs up on the bed to cuddle, but they don't sleep there - they have their own plush beds to sleep on.
One of my girls (the cats) sleeps on the corner of the bed by my feet...(cant stand it, but got tired of fighting it!)..the other sleeps on the sofa, spread out like a dog!

Nope, our bed is the only place in the house that my dog doesn't go on. He can have the whole house, but he's not allowed on our bed. DH would kill me if the dog was sleeping with us

we allow he rto take naps with us but not sleep over night in the bed.....She is lil and we nervous we would hurt her or she would jump off the bed

When we first brought Rocky home, he jumped in our bed and went to sleep. That was it. When we got Adrian she slept in her crate till she had her bladder stones removed. Now she sleeps in the bed.

<--- these 2 and my 6'4" 280lb DH all slept in a fullsize bed for years together...thank god we finally got a Queen a few years back...DH started the pups in the bed before I ever did...but nothing like a warm pup on a cold winter night...now on a hot summer night the fur & sweat don't mix

My dog is on the smaller side, and he does jump up when i go to bed and i don't mind. But he gets annoyed if i move my legs bc he sleeps at the foot of the bed only and jumps down immediately when I move. He sleeps for the most part in his bed at the foot of mine.

yes, Brutus sleeps with us every night for at least part of the night. . . and my DD has never slept in teh bed with us!
