Do you make sure you have equal amounts of gifts for each child?

My Dh's aunt and SIL both said I should do this. Right now my DD had 12 gifts (all small things) and my DS has 3 LOL He is 8 months od and has so many toys already and to me neither one is going to be comparing at this stage who got more or less.

At this age, no...DD#1 is 4 and truly understands Christmas. We also celebrate Hanukkah, so boy oh boy does she get a lot. DD#2 is only 4 months, so forget that!! I'm going to wrap some baby food for pictures sake! LOL

As DD#2 gets older (in a couple of years), I'll try to even it out more...financially I will HAVE to!

We don't worry about being "even". At this age (2.5 and 5.5), they don't understand cost, and DD doesn't know how to count. We open presents at our house, my mom's house, and the IL's house, so by the end of the two days (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), they are so overwhelmed with stuff they have no idea who got more or less.

Plus, the other DC's toys are ALWAYS better than their own.... DS winds up grabbing DD's toys, and vice versa..... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We do, but it's more that I don't buy them a lot since our families go crazy buying for them.

Right now they each get 1 toy from DH & I, 1 toy from their sibling, 1 big thing from Santa each (a dollhouse & the furniture for dd, a train table for ds) and then everything else is from Santa for them to share. I'm sure this will change as soon as they start asking for specific things.

Mine are 5 & 7 - so I try to make it as even as possible. But I don't COUNT. And if they count them up or complain they will get a loooong lecture on ingratitude... that's just unacceptable in my house.

No because DS's gifts cost a lot more!
