Do you pay your mortgage the day it's due or...
do you pay it within that 15 day grace period? I ask because I set mine to pay on the date it's due, but my dad, for some strange reason, pays it sometime within that 15 day grace period simply because he can. We are very open about finances and he is more than capable of paying his mortgage on the first of the month, but because he CAN pay it later, he does I think that's funny. Anyway, today he got a phone call from Wells Fargo wanting to know where their money was for the mortgage, but he argued with them because he has a grace period, which means he can pay it any damn time he feels like between the day it's due and the 15 days after, and while they agreed with him, they told him they would continue to call and harrass him until it was paid. That just made him resing to paying it at the very last possible second. Gotta love my dad. Such a pain in the azz whenever he can be. But on the other hand, goes to show you the state of the economy because he's always done this for YEARS and never got a phone call.

I pay my mortgage between the 5th and 14th of the month. That is how I have always paid it. I find it odd that banks are wasting time and money to call people to ask them where there money is especially if they looked at your father's payment history and noticed that he always pays this way. They should stop wasting the money harassing people and use it to fix other things within their company. I haven't gotten a call from countrywide yet and I probably won't pay it till friday.
My second mortage is paid on the 19th of the month because it is a home equity and that is the date we took it out.

I set up my auto-pay to pay it on the 5th of the month...this way I make sure there are no problems with our checks we get around the 1st of the month.

Mortgage is always paid about 2 weeks before it's due. I make sure that it's the first bill I pay.

It is due the 1st & I will pay it anywhere from the 5-14th day. Since we take it directly to the bank, it depends on my schedule that month.

Same for us. They take it on the 1st.
HELOC gets taken on the last day of the month. We do auto pay with that as well and get a rate reduction because we do auto pay.

I have a 21 day grace period - and I pay it not long before the grace period is over. Since most of our bills are due right at the beginning of the month, I use the grace period to my advantage.

same here. i only pay bills "early" if there is some advantage such as paying more principal on the loan vs interest.
