I prefer to host because then literally everyone can be together...my family and DH's.

Re: Do you prefer hosting holidays or going elsewhere and why?

I really like hosting. I like to cook. I like being in my own house because I have a toddler and I just relax more here knowing he has his stuff to play with. At other peoples house, especially those without kids, I never relax. I am always chasing him and making sure he isn't getting into anything. I come home more tired than anything else.

Re: Do you prefer hosting holidays or going elsewhere and why?

I prefer to host because I usually end up cooking anyway and this way I don't have to lug all my stuff and food to someone else's house

I prefer hosting friends and my parents because they eat the things I make....dh's family doesn't eat much so it wouldn't be as fun to host IMO

I prefer hosting because I hate sitting in traffic, not Chat Icon, etc

I like to do both because I am very fortunate that my family and my in laws get together often so it makes my life really easy.

Wow, I'm surprised most people like hosting. I find it stressful and my house is too small. I prefer to go to family even though this usually involves spending a lot of time in the car.

Host. We have the best layout/space for a bigger event. Plus, once the party is over, we can just go to sleep. No need to drive home. We can clean up the next day... Chat Icon

I prefer to host so that I don't have to go anywhere! lol. I don't LOVE the set up or clean up, but I do love being in my own home!

Same here! That's another reason that I prefer to host: I love to do things my way lol

I prefer to host. Our family is so scattered and a few live in apartments and can't host more than a couple of people, so if we're not hosting, we wind up driving for hours to see everyone.

Plus I like having everyone here, and being able to cook for them all!

Re: Do you prefer hosting holidays or going elsewhere and why?

It depends on the holiday. I like hosting in the summer because we have a pool and DH can BBQ.
Holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving I'd rather not because I'm not a cook at all!!
Holidays like NYE where its just an appetizer and drink type party I'm fine with too.

I like hosting. Dh and I really enjoy cooking so it is a lot of fun to plan the menu and prepare the food.

Re: Do you prefer hosting holidays or going elsewhere and why?

I prefer going elsewhere only because we don't have a lot of room for entertaining... in the future though I'd love to host the whole family if we have the space Chat Icon (but i just keep getting visions of national lampoons christmas vacation lol)

Re: Do you prefer hosting holidays or going elsewhere and why?

The only holiday I ever get to host is Chanukah, b/c the others are already claimed. I like having everyone together on both sides of our family, but it is stressful too. We have a pretty good system worked out for "sharing" holidays with our families during the rest of the year.

Re: Do you prefer hosting holidays or going elsewhere and why?

Both. I wish my house were bigger, I'd host ,ore. I just hate the cleaning beforehand. But once the house is clean, food is going, I love having people over. And after they leave I love having leftovers and not having to cook. I also love not having to do a darn thing and going to someone elses place, even though I always end up making stuff to bring to others houses.
