Do you put egg and yogurt on your chicken before you bake or fry it?
DH and I have a disagreement. He thinks it is weird that I coat the chicken in egg & yogurt before throwing the 4c seasoning on it.
What do you all do?

Never heard of doing the yogurt. I do flour, egg, breadcrumb.

Yougurt on chicken. Never heard or seen it for thst matter. How does it cook? Does the yougurt curdle? Im egg, garlic amd parsley chick only here, and top with whole wheat seasoned crumbs.

I have made breaded cutlets using yogurt - they come out really moist and delish!
I don't use egg if I use the yogurt - I only use one or the other.

well, I put the egg and yogurt on it and then keep it in fridge for a bit. Then I add the flakes/seasoning/what have you. I always heard it really helps coat the chicken and helps the breadcrumbs to stick better, while cooking a delicious layer of sorts under it, and makes it moist.

is it more of an Indian dish you are making? I think that Tandori chicken is marinated in yogurt before cooking it.
I have never heard of doing italian chicken cutlets with yogurt. does it keep it moist?

Never heard of yogurt. I mix egg, little milk and italian dressing together to dip chicken, then coat it with breadcrumbs.

I prefer to use low fat buttermilk, if I don't have any in the house I just use egg.

I do yogurt, but only for indian dishes. The rest of the time I use egg. I never thought to use yogurt instead for other dishes!

I have done it once or twice to replace the egg then breaded it.
Never heard of doing both. Is it really necessary to use both??

For Chicken Drumsticks, I use a recipe by Pioneer Woman.
I mix 2 cups yogurt with a few cloves of garlic, juice of one lemon, and chopped parsley. I then dip the chicken in the yogurt mix and roll in panko bread crumbs.
Place Chicken in baking dish and put a piece of butter on each piece of chicken. Cover and bake at 350 for an hour, removing the cover for the last 15 minutes.
It's really good. Yogurt and lemon tenderize the meat.

It seems unnecessary to do both. I use egg, but I have one recipe that uses low fat mayo & I have heard of buttermilk. I could see how yogurt could replace one of those, but you don't need egg too.
DH uses flour before the egg b/c people on tv told him too , but my mom never did, so I don't & I don't notice an improvement when he does it, so I don't bother dirtying another plate.

never done it your way
i always use fresh lemon juice
plain bread crumbs which i add fresh parsley and red pepper flakes
and i bake it in the oven

I do this too, but I don't think I learned it from tv. My DH who doesn't cook always complain when I do it this way. The flour makes the egg stick better which then makes the breadcrumbs stick better to the egg.
My mom uses flour as well but does egg first, flour second. Apparently my DH believes this is the correct way to do this.

My family loves my chicken cutlets-so crispy! I dredge them in flour first, dipin egg and shake off the excess then really give them a good coating of Panko bread crumbs mixed with a little grated Parmesan cheese-sooo tasty!
