Re: Do you take your infants out to dinner?

Yes we do and I think that consistent exposure to those kinds of situations have helped DD learn to behave really well in restaurants. She loves going out to eat and she always makes friends with the wait staff.

We have one of these FP booster seats with the toys that snap on to the tray. When she was a little younger (she's 11 mo now) she would play with the toys until our food came and then we'd feed her her purees. Now she gets bits of bread, cheerios, etc until our food comes and then I share with her or feed her whatever I brought with me and she plays with the toys after. I find it works easier than the restaurant highchairs because she has her own tray and doesn't have to reach the table.

All the time. He's usually very good. If he has a meltdown, we finish up and go. But we can usually distract him with food, toys or a balloon.

Re: Do you take your infants out to dinner?

We did when he was very young. We stopped between around 9 months until about 22 months, except for a couple of times. He really was not happy in a highchair or booster seat and I refuse to keep a loud or crying child in a restaurant, so it really wasn't any fun for me anymore.

After about 22 months, it became fun again. Now, I can color with him or read books and he is willing to sit for longer stretches.

I also had a baby that really only slept in the carseat when the car was moving, so when he was little, I had to bring bottles and toys with me if we wanted to eat out. We would usually time eating out with a feeding time for DS.

Re: Do you take your infants out to dinner?

since he's so small, being out doesn't affect his "bed time"

since he'll sleep anywhere, his "sleep time" isn't disturbed whether it's in his crib or car seat or some other sleep inducing place.

We have taking our DC out to lunch and dinner since they were infants. They are now 1 and 2 years old and we still go out to dinner. We never go to dinner past their bed time. We usually go at around 4pm. It is also less crowded at this time and I like like that better.

Always! I feed DD before we go. Most of the time she falls asleep in the car and sometimes stays asleep in her carrier in the restaurant.

Does it not interfere with their sleep schedule?

Do they get cranky from being overtired?

We've never tried it. I am hoping to eat out more. I can't cook and we literally used to eat out everyday before DS was born.

DD has only been so cranky that we had to leave ONCE - and we never made it to the table that night.

Yes it interferes with sleep but not in such a way that we have problems for days. She just goes to bed later than usual, and we skip reading stories before she goes down.

Give it a try - it can't hurt. I recommend starting with a chain restaurant that has a family friendly atmosphere.

Always. They are well behaved and we sit and interact with them. It's not always a "paper and crayons type of place" either. And I do not bring DVD's, it's just not me.

Yeah, we take her out to eat with us once in a while, but we go early - like 5 or 6pm.

We only take them for an early dinner, since we put them to bed around 7:30.

Re: Do you take your infants out to dinner?

we rarely go out to eat...

when he was a baby, DH had an issue with me nursing in front of server.

When I go out, its usually with my friends...

Something about getting food to go and eating it while he played in the living room with his toys felt like money so much better spent.

He's 3 now and behaves great in a restaurant...we never let him run around or anything like that. He sits through the meal.

we wait til after 7 or 8 if ds is conked out- then we put him in a stroller in the reclined position at the restaurant and he sleeps.

its been great, although now we are trying to save so we wont be going out all the time.

Always. The moment I was healed enough from my c-section, we were out to dinner. We've never stopped since then!

The same with me.
