Do you think christening gowns are only for girls?
I mentioned to my dh and his family that if we had a boy i think i still want him to be in a gown (not a girlie gown, they do make boy ones).. and they all thought i was nuts. They made it sound like i was torturing the boy if i did this? What do you think. I love the old fashion christening outfits.

Re: Do you think christening gowns are only for girls?
DS was in a gown. It was an heirloom that my MIL, DH and BIL all wore.
I am making a gown for this baby out of my wedding gown, and if it is a girl it will be more elaborate and longer.

In my church I saw more boys in gowns than in the shorts/pants type outfits

Re: Do you think christening gowns are only for girls?
Well, my son wore a gown & I loved it!! My mom made it for all her grandkids to wear, but since he was the first we got to help design it, so it was very simple but beautiful! My grandmother reminded me that back in the day most kids wore gowns, so I think its fine! DH was a bit unsure about it, to make him feel better I got a bib with blue in it for him to wear.

For me personally - I wouldn't put a gown on a boy.
Just my own opinion

Re: Do you think christening gowns are only for girls?
I see no issue with it but would only do it when there are infants. I would do an outfit if a bit older.

Re: Do you think christening gowns are only for girls?
I asked the same question and my godson wore a gown and it was great! DH and some of my male cousins had a few stupid comments but other than that I am glad that my SIL decided to put him in it!

Re: Do you think christening gowns are only for girls?
My DS wore a gown that has been in the family for 50+ years. He was the 13th baby to wear it -- He was only 2 months old at his Christening..

Re: Do you think christening gowns are only for girls?
My mom crocheted a gown for my son & now my new daughter will wear it. I think the little suits look silly to be honest & i think a gown is very traditional.
