Actually, I have heard of this. I don't know the exact reasoning behind it and no, I don't agree with it. But I have heard of it in my neighborhood. Usually from the older people. My mom used to have old fashioned casement windows and would yell at us if we opened them all the way.

She would say "what do we live in? A barn?"

Oh and one time my grandma said to me "those people up there always have their windows wide open."

I wasn't sure if I should tell her that I leave my windows wide open too and ask her what was wrong with that, but I decided against it.

My family is of German decent.
