Do you think it's too soon to put up your X-mas tree?
I normally wait until after Thanksgiving, but really want to put it up before. DH and I have been going back and forth on it, and he feels I should wait until after Thanksgiving.
Is it really that big of a deal?

I think it's too early. I like to appreciate each holiday individually and it would bother me to have my Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving.

I dont think it's a big deal. I would just get VERY bored looking at it for so long. Im an after Thanksgiving chick myself. so don't go by me. Im not even putting up a tree this year.

I'm a decoration freak, so I'd have to agree.. I switched out all my halloween decorations for thanksgiving just last weekend.. so christmas has to wait so the turkeys have their turn for a few weeks..

I would love to mine up now as well, but I have to live for each holiday, and thanksgiving hasn't even passed yet. So I would wait, its a little to early.
my MIL is putting hers up the begining on thanksgiving week though

Thanks ladies - I don't think a couple of weeks is going to make/break him. He'll have to deal LOL!
ETA: The only problem is - it's in the attic. I'm prego and can't go up to get it. DH is holding it hostage.

If you really really want to then put it up. JMO I would wait until after Thanksgiving. I tend to get tired of the tree if I put it up too early.

One of my family members decorated for Christmas LAST weekend!  Only inside their house though--- and the kids are LOVING it! Their tree is up, their stockings, etc.... but they are only at that house a couple of days a week.
Their reason was b/c they're going away for a couple of weeks after this weekend and won't be back until early December by the time they actually get back to that house (it's their weekend house for now).
They asked my DH work a day to set up their outside decorations for them and now he's gotten a full time job that starts next week- so I have no clue when he's going to do this! I told him there's no way he can set up now- the neighbors will hate them.

I love Christmas but IMO it's just too early. The stores have things up and I have started hearing Christmas music on the radio already. I really love Thanksgiving and don't want to rush that away. So my pumpkins, mums and cornucopia will stay around a little longer.

I agree. WAY too early.
I feel like every year the stores do it earlier so the public feels like they have to/want to do it early too.
5 or 10 years ago this wasn't even a question- now all of sudden everyone wants the tree up in early November.
Why? Because the stores are rushing it.
Give it another 10 years and people on this board will be asking- "is it too soon to put my tree up?" in August. "The pool isn't closed yet- but I really want to put the tree up!" (Mark my words!)

I really enjoy my fall decorations, so I wait until the day after Thanksgiving to put ours up. But if you want to put it up now, I don't see anything wrong with it. I can't wait to put ours up!
