I do not wash my chicken because it is not necessary and the only thing it does is spread germs and bacteria from the raw chicken around your kitchen.

Yup. Thats what the Food Standards Authority says here. I saw a whole cartoon on it a few years ago.

I feel like the chicken is slimy right out of the package, and sometimes has a funky smell. But once I wash it, it's no longer slimy or smelly. (and not like "it's bad" smelly, just a certain smell).

Always wash, never dry.
I never dry because it's usually just going to be dropped in a marinade, or into eggs to bread it.
Why would you dry it? (just curious, not judging Chat Icon )

First I never knew this was such a hot topic!Chat Icon

My DH says to dry it otherwise the chicken will steam to which I replied Chat Icon

i only rinse out whole chickens or chicken breast not cutlets and sometimes pat it dry so its not dripping wet

Agreed. I actually heard that washing chicken cutlets is not worth it.

hmm never have tried vinegar. i actually scrub with some salt, rinse all the salt off then "wring" out the meat and pat dry with paper towels.

Me too. I rinse with cold salt water and pat dry.

ETA: I rinse it because I do not like the blood that is in the cavity of a whole bird. I dry it because I find that it makes it easier to season and makes the skin crisper when roasting.

Yes, I do.

In fact my mother's instructions were

1 - Wash chicken - DO NOT USE SOAP. 2 - Dry Chicken.

My mother neglected to tell me this.

Hence, the Palmolive baked chicken I will never live down.

No, I do not see the point. Rinsing it with water is not going to get any bacteria out of it, will only spread it around as others have said. And cooking it will kill anything on it anyway.
