To all those that do wash your meats....how come? I am just curious.



bc i worked in a supermarket and i see who is touching the meat all day long and what happens to it. . .

I wash all meat (except chopped meat), chicken and fish also. I then pat dry for better cooking. I feel poultry especially needs to be washed.

I feel like the chicken is slimy right out of the package, and sometimes has a funky smell. But once I wash it, it's no longer slimy or smelly. (and not like "it's bad" smelly, just a certain smell).



same here. I always wash the slimy part off. After I'm done I disinfect my sink.

If I get it from the supermarket, yes becuase it's slimy. If I get it from the butcher or Fresh Direct, NO because it is fresh and not slimy or fatty.
