Do your kids believe in the Easter bunny?

I am not sure if I should be teaching my kids to believe in the Easter bunny. They are 6 and 4. I make them a basket with eggs but am I supposed to say the bunny brought it? Do I tell them the bunny at the mall is real? I feel embarrassed trying to convince them of that honestly. I do play up Santa for the holidays and they believe in that still. I am not sure what to say about this bunny. A giant bunny comes to our house and gives you a basket with plastic eggs filled with candy. I am not sure how to explain that lol. I can't even remember what I said previous years. We are not deeply religious at this time so I don't want to teach them that aspect.

Re: Do your kids believe in the Easter bunny?

No way.
My kids know what a rabbit looks like.
And all the different egg hunts! One at school, one in town, one at home...

I explain the Easter bunny is the "spirit animal... almost like a mascot of Easter". Eggs symbolize rebirth, eternity and Spring. Bunny symbolizes fertility and Spring.

We did tell kids we hide the eggs. I said a few times that the bunny hid them... but my son said "no way" at 4... and he does believe in Santa. I don't think my DD ever believed a bunny hid eggs. Makes no sense.

Re: Do your kids believe in the Easter bunny?

I don't bring it up too much because of the ridiculous factor. We don't go to the mall and don't get pics with the bunny. I tell them the bunny fills their basket with treats, but I don't bring it up much and luckily they're not that interested right now (they're 5 and 3). I feel like if they figure this out then Santa will be done too.

Actually, I never asked, but they do believe in Santa and that he doesn't come to our house. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yes my 6 year old does. She loves all that stuff so I am enjoying it while she is still innocent. I figure we'll have plenty of years of not believing so for now we go with it.
It's such a short time they are this innocent.

No. I've never even discussed it. They get an Easter basket from mom and dad. For us Easter is more about a religious holiday then about a bunny. Keeping the Santa thing up is enough work for me anyway.

Re: Do your kids believe in the Easter bunny?

So my 8 YO I swear is hurmouring me and asks about the easter bunny, and what it will bring, but he has slipped the last couple years when he thinks I'm not paying attention, so I go with the flow, and until he asks me, I'll pretend with him. My mom still to this day won't tell us it's not real hahaha.

My 6 YO, believes very much and wants to go see that creepy bunny at the mall. She was very upset when DH and I asked them if they would prefer season passes to a place over stupid toys and candy. She thought there wouldn't be an egg hunt etc.

My 3 YO will follow along with anything we do, she just likes to wear pretty dresses and have family over, and my 1 YO obviously doesn't care lol.

Yes, my kids (3 and 5) believe in the Easter Bunny, Santa, the Tooth Fairy, leprechauns, you name it. I believed as a child, and I have beautiful, magical memories of holidays as a child. I want the same for my children.

No. The easter bunny is creepy AF IMO. They get easter baskets from my mom, we aren't religious so I just let her have fun with it.

Do your kids believe in the Easter bunny?

My DD says she does but I think it's just about over for her. She is 9 and just figured out Santa isn't real but putting a bunch of random things together. Then, she announced "now the only thing I believe in is the Easter Bunny)." We're Jewish but I always celebrated Christmas and Easter because my dad is Catholic. My DDs dad is also Catholic. We never focused on the religious aspect. She just got a basket. The funny thing is that because me and her dad are divorced, she gets her basket from me on the saturday before easter and with her dad on easter sunday. You would think she would have figured it out long before santa.

Yes, they both believe. They are 8.5 and 4 yrs old.

I believed as a kid and never questioned why a bunny delivers eggs while I believed. Just a fun tradition, no different than Santa.

Same!! Believing in these things, IMO, is part of the innocence and magic of childhood.

My DD is a bit young to understand (we keep telling her the bunny will bring her a basket on Easter and she just asks BU-nny?) but I 100% plan to carry on the charade for as long as possible! There is so little innocence left for kids, I want to find it wherever I can.

Yes dd is 4 and I just said it again today that the Easter bunny is coming soon. Like a previous poster said I have such magical memories from believing in it all and I loved it. So I want my Dc to have those same feelings.

Do your kids believe in the Easter bunny?

DD is 10 and still believes (or pretends too). She knows that all the extra curricular events - Easter egg hunts, bunny at the mall, etc are not real but she thinks the Easter bunny comes and leaves her basket. She questions it all, Santa, Easter bunny, tooth fairy and I just tell her that if you believe then they deliver your goodies, once you stop believing your parents help out. It's all about the magic.

Do your kids believe in the Easter bunny?

Went to a place today to see the easter bunny and my dd who is almost 5 said "ma! There's a real guy in there. I see his eyes! He's fake" LOL. So I don't think we're going to be making Easter baskets from the bunny...

My 4yo totally believes in dragons, mermaids and unicorns. Like she's asks for a real unicorn the way she asks for a puppy. I don't have the heart to tell the truth.

And yes believes in Easter bunny and actually asks why the bunny doesn't talk like santa does.

My 6 year old googled how to turn into a mermaid. Like she was looking for an instructional video on how to do it.

Yep, all mine believe in everything: Easter Bunny, Santa, Leprechauns, Tooth Fairy, Mermaids, Pirates <---their uncle started that one when we started visiting Block Island. We've gone to some extremes for the pirate stories. Chat Icon

My crew are 10 (almost 11), 9, 7 and 3.5. I'm keeping it going for as long as I can. Chat Icon
