My just asked me to show her how!
She says she won't use it, but she just wanted to know how.
My dad on the other hand, didn't grasp the concept that the buttons have letters as well as numbers on them.

My mom has like twice. It's faster for her to call.
My ILs don't as far as I know.
My dad I have no idea. He and his wife were living in different states the past 8 months, so I imagine so. He's pretty tech saavy.

Good thing for my chicken scratch detector or I would have no clue what he was saying. 
My grandma on the other hand is an articulate text messager: Hello darling, how are you today? I am going out to lunch with so and so and then going to play Canasta at the club. Have a lovely day, Grandma.
that is sooo great that your grandmother text messeges you!! My grandparents don't even own a microwave in their house!
I will say that before I moved I had to write down directions on how to download new ringers for my mom! But the text message just floored me this morning!

My grandma is hip, lol. Although she refuses to wear jeans because they are tacky  and sometimes she drives me nuts....her happy pills make her hip!

My mom can text, but only does it on rare occasion.
My dad doesn't have the first clue - he carries his cell phone with him, but keeps it turned off all the time and also carries a beeper, so if you want to get in touch with him you have to beep him, and THEN he'll turn on the phone to call you back. He doesn't seem to understand why this is more complicated than it needs to be

My MIL does, which surprised me because I never thought she would know how to. My mom doesn't and my dad CERTAINLY doesn't either- he's lucky if he knows how to turn on the phone and make a call.

Are you kidding? LOL My mom doesn't have a cell phone and my dad (who's had a phone for 5 years) I think just figured out how to check is voicemails!! He can build a house, but give him a cell phone....

No, and my dad yelled at my sister for sending him a text. It took him days to figure out why the envelope was on his screen and once he did figure it out she then had to walk him through how to check it.

My mom is lucky she can use her cell phone!! If she gets a missed call she will call me or my sister and say "did u just call me"..she can't even figure out how to see a missed call

Good for your Mom! My paents have to pay a lot extra for that feature, so they stick to just calling and talking. I'm sill teaching them how to retrieve their voicemail.

I never even knew she could text message before today! When she called me this afternoon she told me she taught herself! I found it funny, b/c she is usually so clueless with technology.
