DOE leave
How does it work if you have a baby in June? You can use your CAR days for the month of June? Then, you get your regular salary all summer long?

You won't get your regular salary through the summer if your leave goes beyond the time you use your CAR days. I think that if you're using sick days, you should be able to get full pay throughout the summer, though. I know someone who had a baby in march, took 12 weeks off (6 paid, 6 unpaid), and did not get full paychecks over the summer due to the 6 unpaid weeks off.
I have heard rumors that you need to show up at the end of the school year to get summer pay, though. I am not sure if that is true or not. I know my friend came back in the last week of school because she was worried she wouldn't be paid over the summer

I had a June baby and a late May baby. With the May baby, I was only out 25 days, for the June baby, I was out 10. Summer pay was not affected by either.
Ask your payroll. I think there is a date in May that determines your summer pay amount. You should be fine.

Re: DOE leave
If you're planning on going back in September- When you go into SOLAS make sure your official return date is the day before the last day of school. That way you are not taken off payroll. You don't need to actually go in on the last day, just "call in sick".
