Does anybody else's 3 or 4 year old dislike arts and crafts?

My son shows absolutely zero interest in anything arts and crafts realted. I don't think is a focus or paying attention issue since he loves reading, sits through long books and has amazing comprehension. He also loves playing with playdough.

What could it be? He has all sorts of crayons, markers, coloring books, stamps, stickers, anything you name. We try to sit with him, draw all sorts of funny and cool things to get him interested and nothing...he'll sit for 5 minutes, laugh with us and walk away to another activity.

Is this normal? Has anybody experienced this with their child?

My 3.5 yr old DS has very little interest in arts and crafts. Every once in a while he will want to make something crafty but, usually, he has no interest whatsoever. And, even then, it is only cutting, gluing, painting etc. He has no interest in coloring or drawing at all.

I think it is just is personality - he is just not into crafts - he would much rather build things, build tracks for his trains, do big floor puzzles etc.

DS does not like it either.

DS stronly likes A&C, but he doesn't usually read by himself. All kids are different.

DS loves to connect all his markers into a big stick! Almost all of his crafts from preschool are obviously done by a teacher or just kind of thrown together. When we go to a restaurant or just sit down to color or draw at home, he always tells DH and I what he wants us to draw. He has a great attention span, but just does not seem to be crafty!
