Does anyone eat the pickled ginger that comes on the sushi plate

I hate ginger so I avoid it like the plague.

If a piece of sushi ends up tasting or smelling like the ginger, I won't eat it.

I always remember to tell them NOT to give it to me when I am sitting down, eating my sushi.

Two good pieces bit the dush today because of it.

I LOVE Wasabi. I've given myself nosebleeds from it.

I eat it on the sushi, not by itself. It cuts the fishi-ness for me. It is the wasabi I stay away from.
Though watching Steve-O snort it in the Jacka$$ movie brings me much joy. That is when my inner child comes out.

I HATE it. My dad loves it. I don't even like to touch it with my chopstick

Yes but only with the sushi...not on it's own.

LOVE the ginger. I also eat the rest of it when my sushi is gone.

I love it-- with the sushi.

In fact I don't dip my sushi in soy sauce, I ask for a dish of ginger dressing. Soy sauce is way too salty for me.

I don't eat sushi too often though.

I eat it between sushi pieces or after I'm done with the sushi.

I like wasabi in the rolls or in my soy sauce. I don't like it plain.

I eat the ginger on my plate AND everyone else's plate too! I actually had a ginger beer last night and it was quite delightful. Anyone ever try it??

every have wasabi peas?!?!?!?!

i will sit there and eat them until i am in so much pain i am literally crying and pinching my nose. . .but i cant stop!!

The ginger smells like Windex to me, and agreed, if it touches my sushi, I give those pieces to DH.

I have heard it is supposed to be eaten as a palate cleanser......I think it could be better used as a window cleanser.

I like the ginger. I heard something a few years ago that I never knew. There is a reason why you get the ginger with sushi. Apparently, the wasabi, meant to be eaten with the sushi, can upset your stomach. The ginger acts as a counteragent and settles your stomach. Makes sense now that I remember all the ginger ale my mom gave me when I was sick

I used to eat it all myself, even when I shared sushi with DH But over the years, I've lost my taste for it. I'll eat a little, but it's not like I HAVE to have it, like before. Wasabi I can take or leave, but my DH loves it.

Love Ginger. Not just pickled... but julienned in stir fry's and crushed in marinades and minced in wontons. Love Wasabi too!

I love the pickled ginger...when I go to a Kaiten-Zushi place, I always take a big load of garlic. I freaking love it!
