does anyone elses child eat their food FAST?

my dd is 14 months old....she eats REALLY fast.

today she had pancakes....i put a couple pieces on her high chair and she just grabs them all and shoves them in her mouth and throws a fit until i put more on her plate. she ate 2 whole pancakes in minutes and was still looking for more.

same thing last night with ravioli's. she barely stops to breathe thats how fast she is putting them in her mouth!!

anyone elses kid do this? did they eventually start slowing down and chewing their food more??

yes. My one DS was like this. It has slowed down now at almost 22 months. Although now he sometimes just picks at his food until the very end of the meal and then shoves it all into his mouth at once.

When DD is hungry- yes!
I am so paranoid about choking so I cut everything small, but it's all for no reason, because she just shoves handfuls of things in her mouth anyway!

DD eats like this, I think she thinks we're going to take it away from her.

I eat fast too though, I can finish my meal and DS will only be done with 1/2 of his. When I like what I'm eating, I don't take time to enjoy it, I just shovel it in.

glad shes not the only one! but like one of you said, its as if she thinks were going to take her food away from her!!

hope she outgrows this soon and slows down and ENJOYS her food lol
