Does anyone find CIO for naps so much harder than nighttime?
We tried CIO at night starting last Thursday and so far it's been a huge success.
DS cried for 30 minutes the 1st night, then 15 the next, then 10 the next, and last night for only 2-3 minutes.
But for some reason during the day I just can't do it. he cries and cries and by almost an hour I can't take it anymore and go in and comfort him and then once he's calm I put him in his swing and he's down. I know this defeats the whole purpose of CIO but it just doesn't seem to be working during the day.
I use an abbreviated version of his nighttime routine, have black out shades in his room and his sleep sheep on, but he just will not go down during the day in his crib.
Should I just keep trying? It's so heartbreaking to hear him cry for that long.

It's up to you if you want to quit or keep going. I couldn't do it, and it was the naps that broke me. He got hysterical during the naps, choking, screaming, thrashing, I was afraid he would hurt himself.

Re: Does anyone find CIO for naps so much harder than nighttime?
I have the same problem, I decided to take a break for a bit, I am not sure if this was the right choice or not, but he still goes to bed at night okay. I plan on trying it again after his next tooth comes in so hopefully we will have a little break from the teething. I also found it very draining for me at naptime....CIO at night, he always went to bed eventually....CIO for naps, he didn't always take a nap and then would be miserable, and after listening to him for an hour I would be upset & miserable too!

DS is almost 1 and will not take a nap unless he is rocked to sleep but at night I can put him in the crib wide awake and he lays down and goes to sleep.

Same here at 8 months. During hte day I rock him, then put him down, with this sound machine and black out shades. At night we pat his back for a minute, put him down awake with the mobile on and he is out...
I have accepted this routine, and it works for us.
Sorry I am no help!
ETA: I didnt even try CIO during the day because DS doenst have really a set schedule for naps, they are round about timeframes and I didnt think CIO would work

It's always harder at naptime. It will get easier though!

Oh nap time was a NIGHTMARE for us. Infact, some times she'd just miss it.
But I STUCK with it...just like we did for nighttime.
You will have success, they just have to learn the same way
