Does anyone have a DC (8 + months) that CAN hold their own bottle, but doesn't?
DD CAN hold her bottle and drink from it, but she's always has been "lazy" (for lack of a better word) when it comes to doing things that she knows how to do, but requires her to "work"
Anyone have a DC that did this, and when did they "grow out" of it and start doing it on their own? I'd really like to start getting her used to a sippy cup, she knows what to do, but will just "play" with it. When she does put it in her mouth, sometimes I just have to tip it up a bit more for her, but she takes advantage of that and before I know it, I'm holding it for her.
Also, what is the best starter sippy? I have the Born Free one which is like her bottle, but I think it might be too big for her.
TIA

Mine did that.
He never held a bottle.
But transitioned to a sippy cup at 12 months no problem.
Mine was just a brat
ETA-Samantha is in daycare right? Send in the sippy cup, they were really good at working with Christopher at 10-11 months to get him to drink from it.
We used the First Years cups, oohh, or try the take and toss ones, but they have no valve, so don't put anything too messy in there

Re: Does anyone have a DC (8 + months) that CAN hold their own bottle, but doesn't?
My DD didn't hold her own bottle for me until she was 11 months. And then it was just a one-time thing. I don't even remember when she finally started holding it herself on a regular basis, but she would often be holding it, reach for my hand and MAKE me hold it and then let go herself.
She was only like that with bottles though... she drank her sippies without assistance.
I think what you have to do is tell her NO, you won't hold the bottle for her and make her do it herself. That's what my mother did when she watched DD... I'm the sucker who kept holding it past her first birthday.

YES...DS is 9.5 months old and I know he can hold it but won't. If he does hold it he plays with it and won't drink the bottle. I can't wait until he can hold it himself!

That's a good idea to have daycare work with her I'll start sending one in with just water in it.
Yeah, she's a total brat LOL... she's always been this way too, but I'm also a pushover
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE giving her her bottle, she still takes her bottle while locking her eyes on mine and I just but ya know, sometimes it would just be nice to give her a bottle while she's in her chair so I can wash dishes or get dinner ready.

Ronan knew how to around 7 months but didn't do it reliably until around 9 months or so

Yeah, that's what Samantha does. She plays with the nipple, and will shake the bottle up and down until there is formula everywhere!

DD never held her bottle but instantly took to holding her straw cups.

DD never really held her own bottle until she was almost a year.. keep in mind though, we used glass so they were probably a little heavy...

Same here. He just preferred mommy do it for him but he went cold turkey to a sippy on his first birthday!
