I had and still have this problem. It was soooo bad in the beginning though. DS never slept so i was only sleeping like 1.5hrs at a time - my mom would come over so i could sleep for longer stretches and i would just lay in bed, it was the worst feeling in the world b/c i would feel even more nervous b/c i couldn't fall asleep! It does get better...
This is so me right now.
Today was really bad, Gavin has been crying on and off all day. I am 99.9% he has gas, even though I am breastfeeding.
I looked on kellymom.com and pretty much there is nothing I can do. It breaks my heart when I see him cry so hard and I try everything to soothe him.
I called the ped and she said try the Mylicon drops, but that may not help either and it just takes time.
I do notice when he bf he gulps and I think my milk is overwhelming him, because sometimes he chokes and pulls away.
This was a really hard day for me Ladies, I am in tears right now writing this because I am tired and just feel so bad I can't take away the pain he is in.
It's like you are talking about my DD when she was a newborn, she had exact same problem first few months and I was breast feeding too, I barely sleprt first 3 months, she is 8 months now and still gets gas, I know how you feel and I know it is sooo hard to see your child in pain, it breaks your heart, but trust me it'll get better, just hang in there. many many for you.

YES! When Jacob was born everybody kept saying "sleep when he sleeps." I just couldnt...I wasnt used to sleeping during the day and I kept thinking about everything that needed to be done. All I could say is, try to rest as much as possible. All the other stuff will be there to be done..I know that it is easier said than done!

I was the same way too. I just could not nap. I would clean, wash bottles, do laundry, etc. My mind would be racing with all of the things I knew needed to get done.
If DH or my Mom were there taking care of him, they would send me upstairs to take a nap. I still couldn't- I would hear him crying (even if he wasn't) or just keep thinking about him that I would just go and lay next to him.
DS was gassy, colicky too. We also realized at 4 weeks old that he had reflux, so once we got him on prevacid it helped. it also helped when he started sleeping at night at 8 weeks..
If you get through this, you will be okay. This is the hardest part. Hang in there and come talk to us whenever you need to
