Does anyone have a membership to the CentralPark Zoo/Bronx Zoo/NY Aquarium?
I'm interested in purchasing the $124 family membership. I should have purchased it earlier as we already went to the Central Park and NY Aquarium.
How strict are they on the 2 adults on the membership?
Will DH and I be able to take DS one day and then another day my mom and I go with DS?

Crashing but my friend has one and I used her second adult ticket last week at the Queens Zoo and they didn't bat an eyelash so I don't think they're strict on who is using the two adults.

Thanks! That is great. It would be a no brainer as my DS loves animals and I'm sure we will be making multiple visits. I didn't think DH would be going all the time.
Now I'll be able to go with my mom, my mom could go with my dad, I could take a friend...wonderful!

We do, they told us to do the Individual membership because it allows a guest and DD is under 2. They said that the primary card has to be in the member's name but if you wanted to use the second card for anyone to put "guest" on it.
ETA: it should say Individual PREMIUM which was 94.
Also, when we went to the Bronx Zoo with it both DH and I had to show ID to match our cards, ditto for the Aquarium

I could have written this myself. We did Individual Premium, and we both had to show ID. Not sure how the "guest" thing works. It's worth the $$ - I'm pretty sure it's already paid for itself.

Since DS is less than 2, I think the individual premium membership would work for us.
Did you have to show id at Central Park Zoo? We live in the UES and would go there most often.
So am I the member and DH is the guest? Or are both of us members and we can have another guest?
I'm confused on that.

We have the family membership and they never used to give us a problem. It really depends who is working the gate.
when we were going into the Tisch Children's Zoo, the guy tried to give me a hard time because the Zoo didn't put the right name on the card. They put my DH's last name as mine. We argued about it and I just walked in.

Re: Does anyone have a membership to the CentralPark Zoo/Bronx Zoo/NY Aquarium?
We did ours in person, they told us they could do either of us as the "member" and one guest OR each of us gets our name on our own card. Max of 2 adults at a time.
I haven't made it to CPZ yet this year so I can't say for sure, but it could be one of those things that are hit or miss.. depending on who you get on which day will determine if they check your ID.

Re: Does anyone have a membership to the CentralPark Zoo/Bronx Zoo/NY Aquarium?
Well I can say that I have read on here that people have given their card to friends to use - but we have been a member for 2 years and will be getting our 3rd membership next month. We have ALWAYS without fail had to show our driver's license and our friends have all had to as well. In fact last time we went a woman in front of me said she left her license in her car - the woman told her she had to go get it - and she left cursing under her breath... ...so I have a feeling it wasn't her card.
On the one you are looking at they will list both your names as well as your children's names so I don't think you can bring your mom if your husband's name is listed unless they happen to not be looking closely that day - and you would have to be prepared to pay for her if they refuse to let her in.
If you can swing it I recommend that you get the $154 membership- you can bring a guest (I always bring a friend and sometimes a friend with their baby - since the baby is free). I like that you can do that - BUT I think the unlimited attractions in the Bronx zoo is worth the extra money - DD loves the bug carousel and the new Dora 4D movie - as well as the butterfly exhibit - this allows us to go to the movie several times in one trip and with the carousel we go several times in a row. If you get the other membership it only allows for something like a total of 16 attractions - which would be 3 per ride if your DC is over 2.
If your DC is UNDER 2 go for the individual pass - the $94 dollar one not the one under that one - it would let you put your name and then a guest down - the only catch is that YOU would have to go each time - but the 2nd person could be anyone - from your DH to your mom - and your DC would be free.
Etd to add I have been to all of the parks that you can go to except the Prospect zoo and they asked for my ID at all 4 places every time we go. Maybe it depends on who is at the gate - but it would be a chance you would have to take. We go fairly often - at least once a month sometimes once a week in the summer or warmer months.

Re: Does anyone have a membership to the CentralPark Zoo/Bronx Zoo/NY Aquarium?
We have the $154 family premium.
This is the best deal because we will go to the butterfly garden, see the gorillas, evertime.
In the regular family membership you only get a number of passes for those attractions but those 2 (there are others) we always go to.
It also comes with 4 parking passes. It's $12 to park.
As far as lending your card to someone else. I have had to show my ID to both the aquarium AND the bronx zoo. I was not asked at the Central Park zoo but it was late afternoon already so that's maybe why. The other 2, yes, I was asked everytime we went.
My name is on the card because I am the member.
DH name is on it because he is my spouse (that's the family plan) and DS name is on it. Also because it's the family plan. I could have more names for kids if I had more children. I also have a name "guest". I am allowed to bring an additional guest that is not on the card.

I guess the Individual one won't be ideal for us. Most likely we would be going to the central park zoo at least once a week or so because we live so close. Problem is that my mom watches DS while we work. She would most likely take DS without us. Then on the weekends, I would go with or without DH.
I wanted to get the membership because although it isn't a huge fee to get in, we probably wouldn't want to pay $12 per adult each time we walk by. It would be nice to be able to walk in for 30 minutes everytime we pass by.
I'm thinking I'm back to the $124 family membership. I can put my mom's name and my name as the members. Then DH can be our guest, right?

You can't get the $124 one - b/c it DOES NOT include a guest! - It also only gives you 16 total passes for the paid attractions at the bronx zoo - so you would end up paying for the additional things - I know when we go to the zoo 90% of what we do are paid extras - something to think about.
The CATCH with the $154 one - is that you either have to NAME the guest - which means if you put your mom's name on it you can only bring her - OR you have to write GUEST - which means you or your DH will have to go to get her in - which is a real PITA. That pass gives you unlimited entrance to the paid attractions (monorail with the animals, children's zoo, butterfly exhibit, congo, bug carousel, dora 4D movie etc at the Bronx zoo and the 4D attractions at the Aquarium - which I have to admit I have never done).

I have only done the CPZ 2 times and both times we were asked. Honestly it boils down to who is behind the counter. Most ask but some don't.

If your mom is going to be taking DS herself I would get the $154 family one (we have that one) you could put your name and your mom's and then when you and DH go he's the guest. I'm kicking myself for not trying to use initials since DH and MIL have the same first initial and last name, and then I could take MIL & FIL (as the guest) when they visit. Oh well.
