Does anyone have MTHFR

Hi All,

Its been awhile and I wont have made it without you ladies here to support me after my 2nd m/c a month ago. I have been really busy dealing with work, emotions and the drain of a 2nd m/c. I finally got my results back. I tested Postitive for Heterozygouse MTHFR C677T and A1298C. I was wondering if anyone has or knows someone that has this issue. My doctor said I can try again after I get AF which I am waiting for but if i get a positive pregnancy tests I have to give myself injections of a blood thinner. I did some online research and got mixed feelings about this particular mutation.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Does anyone have MTHFR

I was also diagnosed as heterozygote for MTHFR. I saw a perinatologist who ran more blood tests for additional immune issues. I'm on baby aspirin and metanx, but as soon as I'm ready for another IVF, I'll have to go on metformin and lovonox.

Has your OB suggested you see a specialist?

i have MTHFR also.. i have my list of different mutations so i am not sure i have any that you listed..

but i am currently pregnant now.. and am taking a baby aspirin everyday and lovenox injections throught the entire pregnancy.
i also have to go get bloodwork every month to check my levels .. so they are taking good care of me, with this issue.

glad they caught this !!

Thanks ladies. I was beginning to think I was the only one. I am seeing a specialist in two week and they are running additional testing. They have me taking additional blood work and sonogram once AF comes. Not sure what AF has to do with blood work or sonogram but I will do whatever they tell me to do.

They told me I will most likely need to take an injection everyday. I am glad they were able to figure out what was causing the m/c but I am worried about the injections.

How are the injections? it is annoying to take them daily? Are there any reactions? Bruising? Do the injections interfer with the baby? Can it harm the baby?

I am glad they found it because I do not want to go through another m/c but I am worried.

Thanks again for your responses.

it is so great that your doctor is staying on top of this.. getting bloodwork done when AF is in town is pretty normal.. its usually called CD3 testing.

as far as the injections.. you get used to it, sometimes you will get bruises, and it burns for a bit.. but then you are fine... it doesnt really give you any other side effects.

hope this helps!! Chat Icon Chat Icon
