does anyone here LOVE their step kids?
I do. My step daughters are great little human beings. Yeah they can be rotten, but they are respectful and thougtful and full of love!!!
I am proud of them!

I tell SD all the time that she is the love of my life LOL
Both of my stepkids are wonderful and have added many blessings to my life. I realize that I am very lucky and this isn't usually the case. I can't imagine my life without them. One thing that really hit home for me, my SD and I were talking about if she had ended up with a different "mean" stepmom and I burst into tears thinking of anyone ever mistreating them. I need to shut up. Yes i love them!

my SDs say that to me too lol They love their SF as well. I told them they are so lucky to not have evil steps!

I have been in my SD's life since she was 4 months old....For the first 7 years , DH and I had no biologocal children together and I treated her as my own (as I do now) ...I genuinely do love her and she is a good girl....
We suffered from her BM's parental alienation tactics over the past few years, but I never stopped loving her and know that though we were sometimes hurt by her actions, they were not her own ...

We suffered from her BM's parental alienation tactics over the past few years, but I never stopped loving her and know that though we were sometimes hurt by her actions, they were not her own ...
This is SO true!!!! I keep beating this into my DH's head LOL always remember that. <3

i've been with my SS since he was 3.5 - for 5 years, he was our only child...i too, treated him as if he was my own, and i still do even after the birth of our son 3 yrs ago. though it hasn't always been easy, it's totally worth it!
the older he gets, the more he realizes....in the end, they will always know who was truly there for them and who was not.

Love? Yes.

I love my SD, she just turned 17. I met her when she was 6. She is really growing into a terrific young lady.
She was really a button pusher when she was younger & her Mom was too.
Interestingly as time passes everyone gets along fine and I think SD finally appreciates the unique positives in having four parents instead of two.
I've never had to try to be her mom, I always made my role very clear & I finally feel like she gets it. This year she got me one of those blue mountain type Christmas cards that was a total tear jerker.
She is DH's little girl, even when she would grate on my last nerve I still loved her because she's a product of him.
My son has not always been an easy stepchild for my DH to love, but I know he does. IMO, its part of the deal.

This is pretty much how I feel. I hate to say it but sometimes I'm so resentful of BM and the strain she puts on my life, DH's life and our marriage that it makes me wish they would all just go away. I know that's not nice to say. That plus my SD being a witchy tween is a tough thing to deal with.

this minus the teen stuff. bm puts a huge strain on our life and sometimes fh's relationship! very challenging to say the least right now!!

haha they all do at that age. I consider it flattering when they act like monsters with me because they do the same to their parents! I always say to them "thank you for treating me like a Bio parent" when they get fresh...we all end up usually laughing.

But unfortunately I dont think things are going to change any time soon. My DH and I have been together for 7 years...and the longer we stay married...the worse it gets. I guess, in the beginning, BM thought that I was only a passing fancy of DHs. The more we prove her wrong the worst the situation becomes. According to BM my DH was cheating on her with me. (we met 9 months after then split but she doesnt believe this) She has, to the best of our knowledge, informed the children of this....it hasnt been exactly good for my relationship with them.

This unfortunately is my situation as well. It seems as the years go by, BM gets worse. She has spread so many lies and stories it is not even funny! We have a good relationshop with the two younger ones (10 and 13), but my oldest sd (16) is tougher. She has been so brain washed and filled with lies that her mother has told, that she barely comes around anymore. My heart breaks for my husband. He really is a good dad and he loves them all so much. I guess some BM's can't seem to get past anything nor can they accept their own mistakes made so they prefer to cast blame elsewhere. They only make things more difficult for their kids. I just dont get why after almost 10 years - you still carry so much hatred towards someone. Maybe the marriage didn't work, but you have three beautifuk children, a roof over your head, an ex. who is VERY involved with the kids and who never misses one payment - ever!
To answer the OP - I love my SK a lot. I have been in their life since 2005/2006 and we are family!

Have your read into parental alienation syndrome (PAS)? There are great resources out there.
I don't have this problem but have friends that do.
I thank God me and my BM get along well. It is possible!

I could have written my own book on PAS ....
Thankfully we only lost 2.5 years w/ DD due to it and we finally have a relationship on the mend with her...Though it will never be the same as it used to be and time was lost, we are re-building and now that she is older with a mind of her own, its becoming far easier...
PAS is a horrific thing to experience

SD is a very likable child until she started telling her mother lies about what was happening in my home. She doesn't get much attention from BM but everytime she leaves my house BM questions her and I think SD tells her what she wants to hear which leads to BM cursing me and DH out. He's told her multiple times what happens in our home stays in our home. Its been 6 years and I don't see things changing either.

I love my SD more than anything I have been in her life since she was 1. I treat her like my own and wouldnt have it any other way even though it pisses BM off that we have a great relationship.
I can't wait to give her a sibling though. DH and I have been TTC since 09
