Does anyone suffer from vertigo?
I am home from work today due to my vertigo. I've been suffering from this from years, and it's ALWAYS during this time of year that it acts up again. The rest of the year, I'm pretty good. I've asked my allergist, and he says that it's probably allergy related, but not sure exactly what (I do get shots once a week for my allergies).
Is anyone experiencing it lately? What do you find triggers it?

I do! It seems to come and go. I never thought about the time of year and if that might be a trigger, I should start charting when it happens. But when I do get it, I get it often for like a couple of weeks and then it goes away. It's extreme and scary. The first time it happened, I was convinced I had a brain tumor. (Still not convinced I don't have one!)

Re: Does anyone suffer from vertigo?
My hubby does- he gets an attack a couple of times a year and it's awful. He throws up from it and everything. He actually went to the hospital one night when he was at work- and they gave him antivert- which the doctor said is really just dramamine or bonine- which you can buy over the counter. That usually helps when he gets an attack.
His is unexplained too but they think its from inner ear pressure and congestion- so if you have allergies it's possible.
He says it's a horrible feeling- so I hope you find some relief!

Definitely keep track of when it comes and goes. You might be surprised to see that it's usually around the same time of year (at least it is for me). I've been to a great ENT and was diagnosed with benign positional vertigo (problem with my inner ear). Unfortunately, with the type of vertigo I have, antivert doesn't work.
I was just wondering if maybe the weather or air pressure is effecting anyone else or if it's just me

Wow!! That makes me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one!
Unfortunately, there isn't much research on vertigo and it's correlation to the time of year (allergies, etc.) so I always wonder who else is experiencing it now....

Re: Does anyone suffer from vertigo?
OMG!!!! I do or should I say did? I experienced vertigo quite often. Some days it was just an off balance feeling and then other times it was full fledged spinning. Non stop!!!! I got really sick from all the spinning too. I ended up in the ER quite a few times just so they would give me some valium and antivert to knock me out. I went to ENT'S and they decided I had minere's disease after running a bunch of tests. I had noticed that I was losing some hearing in one of my ears. So I went to a specialist and he agreed that that is what I had. I am on a diaretic twice a day and valium on an as needed basis but I haven't had to take any in about a year now. I have to limit my salt intake. I ended up having endolymphatic sac decrompession surgery. Now if I do get an attack it is very minor and only lasts for a second. I do get days though that I feel like I could get it. It is usually really hot hot days and then when the barometric pressure is really high. My head feels really heavy and I can't move it too fast or I will go off balance. But the surgery was a miracle becuase now I can drive again!!!
