Re: Does anyones toddler watch NO TV????
This is DD. We have minimized TV since she was a newborn according to AAP recommendations.
Now that she is a toddler, we've put a few shows on and she has no interest.
We actually want to get her interested at this point because we frequently drive back and forth from NY to NC and it would be helpful to pop in a few DVDs for her on the trip.
It's a work in progress.

Re: Does anyones toddler watch NO TV????
That's about the age where we cut off TV for Jake. And we didn't start up again until after 3 years of age or thereabouts. I say leave it alone. Sticks and dirt are great! It could have changed but last time I checked I believe the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends zero TV for children under 2.

Re: Does anyones toddler watch NO TV????
I think that is GREAT. Noah watches a lot of TV, its something I didnt and dont control although I WANT TO. But I dont know how to just take it away, cause its a part of our routine.
But the marketing craziness geared towards kids is unbelievable as my 2 yr old can attest to...the fact yours is not part of that is great.

Re: Does anyones toddler watch NO TV????
Noah was never remotely interested in television. I actually TRIED to get him to watch it sometimes!
He only started wanting to watch television about a year ago (he's almost 6). And even now he's not television crazy. He watches it during his 'quiet time' for a little while and sometimes he will put it on for background noise when he's coloring or doing something else.. but he's actually more about the radio.

Re: Does anyones toddler watch NO TV????
My DD, all she knows is Elmo since its the DVD shes seen since birth, its plays in the car.
At home, no tv and at daycare, its on but she dosent watch it.
Sesame St is the only show and its because its on in am while I get ready for work.
ETA: My niece on the other hand is big tv toddler and sits through the entire Disney movie.
Sometimes I rather that

Ds has no interest in tv and he is 15 months - if i need to do something, i try and put in a dvd and he won't even look at it. i always wondered if it was weird too b/c all the kids around his age watch tv. I guess it just doesn't interest him

Re: Does anyones toddler watch NO TV????
DS doesn't really have an interest in TV. It stays on a lot when DH watches movies or if I'm watching the news. DS just ignores it. He's more interested in playing with his toys or trying to knock garbage cans over in the kitchen!

DS is 18 months and has no interest in TV either. Sometimes I try to get him to unwind and watch it but he wants no part of it. He rather sit and flip thru books allllllllllllllllll day long.

Re: Does anyones toddler watch NO TV????
Lily didn't watch until she was about 20 months. The tv was on, but she wasn't interested in it. Now, she'll watch - but she's not obsessed with it. For me, it's a nice break...I can turn on the tv and make her lunch or dinner, and not have to worry about entertaining her at the same time!

Re: Does anyones toddler watch NO TV????
DS only started with Sesame Street at 20 months or so. Until then I was not really in favor and he had little or no interest.
Now he watches maybe 1 hr Sesame (or Elmo DVD) a day and that's all.
I am not a tv on as background person so I didn't encourage it at all.
