Does everyone get internal sonos at the end of the pregnancy?
I have a growth sono scheduled at 32 weeks. My doctor didn't mention any other sonos.

It won't be an internal sono, it will be external.
You'll likely get an internal exam at the end of your pregnancy around week 37 or 38

no internal sonos at the end, just externals.
you may be thinking of internal examinations, where the dr checks to see if you are dilated. that is done manually, not with a sono.

How come you are getting so many growth sonos? Is your baby measuring big?

I won't be getting any more sonos or any internal exams.......
It all depends on your physician

Sometimes if they think the baby is measuring too big or too small, they will do growth sonos. I've had 2 so far (week 28 and 32), and starting next week (week 36) I'll be having them weekly until I have the baby. I also have GD which is why I have so many.

When doctors say they will do an internal - they are not referring to a sono - there are referring to where they do a manual examination (with their fingers) to check and see if you are effaced and/or dilated. It is a little painful.

It's painful? I hate pain.
I guess I should prepare myself for pain since I'm going to be having a baby. Sigh...

It depends on the person doing the exam. I had 2 internals at the doctor's office, which weren't too bad. Some of the internals at the hospital were pretty painful though.

Sorry for asking so many questions but how is it painful? Is it different from when they poke and prod you before you were pregnant? I didn't find that painful at all.

I agree that it depends on the size of the hands of who is doing it but it just feels different from when you have or anything else like that. I am not sure how to explain it except to say they do not use forceps or anything to open you up they just kind of shove their hand up there. Its not horribly painful like labor but there is definitely some discomfort.

I only had 2 internals since my DS was early, but I didn't think they were that much worse than a pap exam. Maybe my doc is gentle.
