Does this sound reflux related???
So KJ has had a cough for about 7 days now...I took him to the ped and she said his lungs were clear and the coughing may be from his AR.
Well for the past 2-3 days, he has been REALLY cranky, crying alot and not drinking too much at one time (he will eat like 2.5 ounces and then cry when I try to give him more)
I wonder if the Zantac is not completely helping his AR or is he just does not feel well

Re: Does this sound reflux related???
Sounds like reflux to me.... Zantac is crap..... I don't know why peds push it so much! All it is is an acid neutralizer so when they reflux it doesn't burn as much..
Also its peppermint flavor which is CONTRA-InDICATED in adults with reflux because peppermint relaxes teh spincter muscle
Prevacid worked WONDERS for us.... ALexa has VERY SEVERE acid reflux... this medication neutralizes teh acid and helps to decrease teh production of acid.
Alexas reflux is silent for the most part so episodes of coughing and congestion are a sign for us and her DR.s that the reflux is acting up and needs to be re-evaluated.
See if you can get him on Prevacid....
FM if you have any questions!

Re: Does this sound reflux related???
It could be just a cough...lots of colds going around right now. How old is your LO? My little guy was a silent refluxer and on meds for about 11 months before we were able to wean him, we did have to increase the zantac a few times as he got bigger and needed a higher dose.
What I wish I knew when my LO was suffering are the benefits of ped. chiropractic care for refluxers...After about a month of adjustments we were off the meds. It really worked for us! I highly recommend Dr. Statler on Jericho Tpke in Huntington.
Hope yout LO feels better and if I can help, let me know!

Re: Does this sound reflux related???
It could be. It all depends. There is a lot going around right now. Also if your ds has gone up in a weight a lot, maybe it needs to be increased.
Also zantac has always worked for my son who has silent reflux, but i know it doesn't work for many. Maybe you should try prevacid or axid.
