Does this sound right to you? (Food related)

Anthony is 9 1/2 mos. He had a ped appointment today and he weighed 19.7lbs (2 1/2 mos ago he weighed 18.13) His weight dropped from the 50th% to 24th%. His PED wasn't concerned but said I should give him more food. I asked what he was allowed to have and he said "give him anything he wants. He can eat all types of table food, whatever you are eating". The nurse of couurse told me to steer clear of honey and nuts and to be careful with berries, but that was it.

I just cant imagine going from only baby food fruit and veggies, occasional cheerios and stuff like that to "real food".

Is there anything I should start light with or wait a bit more to introduce?

Does he eat yogurt yet? Landon LOVES yogurt... he ate a whole jar of yobaby + a whole baby food jar of fruit at that age and would still want more.

my son just started eating table foods b/c he is refusing anything on a spoon. First we started with pastina(when he still took to the spoon) We also do yogurt, the fruit cups diced up smaller, I also get dr. praegers vegetable bites (broccoli, spinach etc) He eats chicken turkey and open face grilled cheese all cut up really small. dd will be a year next week and i just started seriously giving her table food (she only had 1 tooth so ive been nervous). so far she really likes cheese and turkey shredded or if we are having pasta i will give her some meat sauce with a little parm cheese sprinkled on it, she loves that, iv tried chicken nuggets cut up really small but for some reason she stores it in her cheeks and then like 20 minutes later i find it all spit out on the floor. also i know its really bad but shes a junk food queen (just like her mama). she loves ice cream, ices pops, cookies, cake, iv even given her tiny peices of salt & vinigar potatoe chips! iv deffinitly created a monster Chat Icon

Nah go for it! Chat Icon

We started Jacen on table foods around 8 or 9 months. I think Yobaby yogurt at 8 months. Then it became small pieces of cheese or anything else you can mash up tiny. Then as he got better with gumming things it became some pancakes, french toast sticks, ham, grilled cheese (in tiny pieces), bananas, etc etc. At 1 years old, he's on all table foods now and only has 2 teeth (2 more coming in on the top but that will take weeks for them to come all the way in). So just start small and go from there. Practice makes perfect. Chat Icon

ETA: oh also start giving yogurt melts or the crunchies for snacks. Then baby gold fish is a good one. My ds LOVES all of those. Just as much as he loves bananas. Chat Icon

I was nervous giving ds table food so we took a cpr class first.

I'd start w/ breakfast foods - they are the mushiest = waffles, pancakes, eggs (yokes first, then whites, then mix)
maybe some pasta - barilla makes cute mini-shapes.

Canned fruit - just watch the sugar/aspertine. Some brands have natural juice, some have splenda added. The store brands seem to be the best for us - in natural juice or light syrup (i usually rince the syrup ones first).

Before you know it he'll be chomping on a lamb chop...and you will laugh!!!
(My DS doesn't really eat meat protien= but you should have seen him attack that lamb chop).

Both DD's got table food by 9 months, almost exclusively. DD did not even have a tooth until 14 months but she was fine.
