Does tugging on ears always mean ear infetion?
DD had a clear runny nose last week? This week she's been fine but the past few days tugging on her ears, but thats it, not cranky, no fever nada...I'm wondering if I should take her to the ped or it could be teething????

Definately could be teething related.

No. I've dragged DS to the doctor several times suspecting ear infections, but each time, nada.
I think he started pulling on his ears to relieve teething, and now he sometimes does it as a comfort thing, esp. when he's tired. But if it continues, might be good to check in with your doctor all the same.

ds has been tugging all week... he also had a clear runny nose... his nose did develop into a sinus infection.. but his ears are clear... ped told me it could be teething related or he could have just discovered his ears

Not in my experience. My DS went through a phase where he would do this alot - especially when he was tired - he was always teething so maybe it was that. He has never had an ear infection...

Just took DS to the Ped b/c he too was pulling on his ears. No ear infection. Most likely it is teething. They told me if he has a fever then I should bring him back in.

My Dd often does this. She is not sick and it is not ear related, as per ped. Def teething in her case.

Re: Does tugging on ears always mean ear infetion?
Nope. DS has been constantly tugging at his ears lately. He has no fever & hasn't been acting differently at all, but I can tell his first teeth are coming anyday now. Also, DD used to tug on her ears constantly & has still never had a single ear infection.

No. DS was doing the same thing last week and I took him to ped because I thought he had an ear infection. He is also playing with his tongue. The ped said his gums are very swollen on top. Just waiting...
