does your 12-18mo old cry when they wake up?
DD is 15 months. Since 6 months she has napped great. 2 2-hour naps a day. Goes down quietly, on her own and wakes up playing by herself. never stood up, just played on her back until i went to get her. if she did cry (rare), i would leave her for 5-10 minutes and she would always go back to sleep. So i figured when she cried, she was still tired.
She turned 15 months and i guess transitioning to dropping a nap. But now she cries and stands when she wakes up. i am not used to having her cry so much. she does this for naps and also in the mornings. Is this normal? Or is she still tired? Even if she was still tired, I dont think she would go back to sleep...when she stands up, she doesnt go back down (i have seen her stand for 2 hours straight recently). Since she is crying, she is cranky for a good 15 minutes before shes back to her happy self. What do your little ones do?

DS only does this when he's still tired - otherwise, he wakes up talking and he calls us.

Yes, she cries, and has recently started to throw her pacifier and lovey out of the crib as if to say, "Look what you made me do!!" then points to them when I come in the room.
When DD cries, she usually wants to get out of the crib, not stay in it. I think she's telling you she wants out.

No. He usually plays in his crib and when he gets bored he starts yelling "mommy". He is 16 months.

no, DS will play and talk when he wakes.
the only time he cries is in the middle of the night if something is wrong.

my son wakes up playing and talking. Sometimes if he's teething and that is what wakes him up he will cry or if it looks like maybe he had a bad dream.

Re: does your 12-18mo old cry when they wake up?
Lately, DD has been crying going down for naps AND waking up from them!
If she has slept more than two hours, i will go get her -- if not, I will give her a few minutes to see if she goes back to sleep. Her normal nap is almost 4 hours!
I never go get her in the morning before 7AM, but she will sit and play until I do. She also doesn't cry at all for bedtime. I don't know why the big difference between bedtime and naptime!

DS#2 usually wakes up very angry and unhappy from naps. Sometimes it takes him a good half hour to come around.
In the morning at that age he would cry until I would get him and then he was fine.
Now he usually wakes up happy in the am

Yes dd started screaming and crying the moment she wakes up.
She just recently did this. She used to play and talk and do whatever in there. Now she throws her blanket and lovey out.

Re: does your 12-18mo old cry when they wake up?
DD#1 was like that. She would wake up from naps and in the morning crying. Didn't matter how much sleep she got. If it was a nap and she only slept for an hour I would let her cry for a little bit to see if she would go back to sleep.

Re: does your 12-18mo old cry when they wake up?
DS is 14 months and he only cries if he is woken up, or if he wakes up in the middle of the night. When he wakes up on his own after a nap or in the morning he usually just hangs out in his crib and plays for a bit.

DD wakes up in stages. First she sits up. Then she talks and sings a bit Then she starts getting rough with her bear. Then she stands up and throws every last thing that isnt' tied down out of the crib.
Then she starts whining. Then moaning Then crying Then screaming Then bloody murder shrieks like the devil has entered her soul.
Then I go get her to avoid the cops being called by the neighbors!

Re: does your 12-18mo old cry when they wake up?
omg i must have jinxed it by writing this post. DD is now screaming at bedtime, which never happened before. What gives? I put her down at 7...she went in fine. I left the room. 5 mins later, she is screaming. I go in and sit with her in the rocking chair. She is fine. I again put her in the crib. She lies down fine and rolls over. But then 2 seconds later she is crying and standing again. OMG! I cant take this.. what happened to my easy baby?
