Does your DC ever sleep through their bedtime bottle from their late afternoon nap?

DS is 5.5 months, usually takes his 3rd nap around 6ish. Most of the time its only 30-60mins. Once in a while, he'll still be sleeping at 9pm and missed his 7pm bottle. If that happens, I'll change him into his pajamas and overnight diaper and feed him his bottle, as much as he wants to eat. He wakes up for everything and then falls right back to sleep. I used to dream feed once in a while when he was a newborn, which I never liked doing, so I feel better that he wakes up a little to eat and goes right back to bed.

What do you do if this happens? Let them sleep? Wake them up to eat? Dream feed?

Same as you..I let her sleep- when she wakes she gets the last bottle. I also really never liked dream feeding..I'd rather her awake- at least a little anyway

DS is 7 months and sometimes does this.. especially on Mondays!!! He always takes a nap after daycare at 5:00 usually only last 30-60 mins...this monday I went into he room at 7:00 (feeding time) and turned off the fan (white noise) and AC started prepping a diaper.. he usually wakes from that.. he was fine..

But Last week..we didn't do that..at 9:30 we went in and did a dream feed so he wouldnt wake up starving at 3:00am..

I don't like doing it either but I hate that he missed dinner... (he would miss cereal..a veggie AND a bottle) so i need him to at least have his bottle. KWIM

Re: Does your DC ever sleep through their bedtime bottle from their late afternoon nap?

At 3 months, DS would sleep through his 11pm bottle a few nights a week. Thats how I knew that he would be fine without that 5th bottle at the time, so I dropped it. He is too young for me to only give him 3 bottles a day right? Right now he drinks 29oz a day and 3 meals a day. If I dropped that 4th bottle he would be drinking 22oz a day. WDYT? Not yet?

They say once they are on the 3 meals that that's an adequate amount of formual.. but I'd read your LO.. I know DS wouldn't be ok with that much.. at 7 months he JUST stopped taking 5 bottles!!Chat Icon Go with what he wants. It he keeps skipping it.. then great!!

Not yet I dont think. I would ask your ped though. If hes eating 3 meals a day...22 oz may be enough. DD is having 2 meals a day and drinks 30+ ounces a day still- granted she is still tiny compared to Constantine! :}

Yeah my ped wants me to go down to 3 bottles a day! Chat Icon Chat Icon I'll wait until his 6 month appt to reconfirm that (in 2 weeks). My mother on the other hand wants me to find him every time he stops smiling. "OH! He's hungry!!!" He would be 40lbs if I fed him everytime she thought I should! Chat Icon
