My DH dies not a dang thing around the house if theres a mess he will walk around it I'm lucky if ge takes out the trash never turned a washing machine on in his life let alone a dryer he will do dishes when I harass him but he wouldn't be able to tell you where the vacuum is stored

He does!! He actually does most of the cleaning! Im very lucky. He is a P.I.T.A. in other ways though, lol

I kinda have to drop hints and then usually he'll do something on his own. Well, I guess thats not really doing it on his own then huh?

He only does the bare minimum without being asked. And by that I mean garbage and the dishes. And sometimes I have to constantly remind him to do just that. He thinks the only garbage is the one in the kitchen. We have small pails in the living room, bathroom and the 2 bedrooms. He "forgets" about them a lot...I find myself throwing them out in the middle of the night. He is retired and only cares for DS in the morning for 2-3 hours. He definitely can be doing a lot more around the house without being asked or told too...

Mine, like alot of men, has alot of tolerance for messiness and clutter. I have to nag, cajole and guilt-trip him to get him to do anything. :P

He sometimes yells at me for spending too much time vacuuming. I do that once a week 'cus we have a cat! The nerve!

His only chores are to take DS to daycare, make ice tea, share the litterbox duties and take out the garbage. Often he has to be reminded to do the latter. :P

9 times out of 10 he will do it on his own. Every now and then I have to drop a hint.

Not that I have to nag but I do have to tell him what to do each day...almost like a laundry list.
If I don't say it, he won't do it...but he's pretty good about doing what I ask without complaining or making me say it a 1000 times.

I'm very lucky when it comes to DH cleaning. Guess it helps that he was raised in a family of mostly women!

I am very lucky, DH does almost everything around the house without asking.

I don't clean.

LOL... DH is former military and says I s*ck at cleaning cause I clean "around" things etc.

So, he does it!

Yes he is a neat freak! He cleans things that are already clean!

But i love it! He is such a help! We are really a team like that!

DH does random stuff like rearrange cabinets, but doesn't clean like wash floors/bathrooms clean. But he helps in other ways.

DH does some things without asking, always empties garbage, vacuums, mops kitchen floors I do appreciate these things he does however his cleaning is not up to my standards. Sometimes I end up redoing what he has already done.

I am lucky, I must admit. My DH does almost all that I do. I clean the bathrooms and do the floors but DH will think nothing of doing dishes, wash, dusting, trash, etc.

not really, but i stopped the nagging and just let it pile up for a week and sat down and watched tv like he does....he got the hint.

Dh has his jobs... the dishes, the laundry (well not the folding but, I don't go into the scary basement alone)...

Other than that he is blind to dirt, dust etc. If he is home he will do a few things if I say "clean up a little" but, never like I would do. He thinks running the vacuum more than once a week is innnnnnsaaaaaannnnnne. However, if I give him a list or nag.. he'll do it or at least most of it.

Pleeeease ZERO, nada, zilch, zippo!

To prove a point to him once, I put a towel on the door(on purpose) in the hallway by the bathroom. I wanted to see how long it would sit there before he picked it up, or if he would pick it up at all. Well..... after a WEEK of my family stepping over this towel guess who picked it up? ME! I could not take it anymore.
My whole house is neat. Here is this random towel on the floor(doesnt happen in this house) and you walk over it for a friggin week????
His answer, I didn't notice it.

yes. but i still nag him to do certain things

without asking he -

loads and unloads the dishwasher
takes out garbage
cleans the litterbox
does his own laundry
food shops
vacuums out stairs and carpets!

Dh has gotten soo much better with helping clean around the house and certainly does his share now that we have DD and he sees how busy I can be working FT and taking care of DD.

It took a while, but he def. has stepped up in the past year.

He does many things around the house, but there are certain things that totally escape his radar. He could walk past dirty dishes for a week and never touch them, but I never do the litter pan or bathe the cats.

I really never nag him, we each have our own responsibilities that we take care of as needed.

I have been very busy with work recently, and again last night went up to my office as soon as dinner was over. Most times when this happens I wake up in the AM to have to clean the kitchen (he'll put food away, but not do dishes) this AM I woke up and he had totally cleaned the kitchen, it was awesome

Yes and no. On an every day basis, not so much. But every so often he goes into cleaning mode and then tells me everything I'm doing wrong with the daily upkeep.

sometimes he's great - like yesterday I wasnt feeling well and he washed all the floors in my house, did the laundry, etc.

And since he watches DD during the day sometimes I will come home and he will have tidied up a bit.

But other times Im like what planet do you live on??? He will leave the garbage by the front door which drives me CRAZY!!!! and say "I forgot it"
He's also notorious for piling all his folded clothes NEXT to his dresser or putting his dirty clothes IN FRONT of the hamper

Yes, he is great about that and if I do have to ask him to do something (which I don't mind) he does it right away.
