yep - State Trooper - I hate it.  ....though I think NYPD would be more dangerous....but still, he carries a gun and wears a bullet proof-vest because it's dangerous.

my dh is an Iron worker- welder and he has gotten hurt many times - not serious thank god. The only good thing is the company pays for our ins. because its so dagerouse

no. He has stress, but no danger. He's in finance.
Hats off to the men and women who are in those very dangerous jobs that make our lives easier and safer. . . and to their spouses who worry about them.

Yes, he was a Navy helo pilot but now he does Intel which I think is worse since he will be forward deployed on the ground with specops when he finally does go overseas.... I don't want to think about it. I just put my head in the sand.

To me it is a dangerous job, but to others not all. He is a restaurant manager, I was in a robbery once while closing and so was he. It is fairly safe(nothing like NYPD) but it keeps me up at night.

My husband is a NYPD detective. I used to worry about him when he was in another precinct. Now he's in a suit & tie type detective and I don't worry as much anymore.

Mine is a CO for Suffolk County. There is so muchthat can happen to them inside the jail. I know it's dangerous but it didn't register with me until one day we were at a fair with the kids and ran into 2 men that were prior inmates. That was scarey. He also ran into another when he took his youngest daughter out to lunch. Most of the time, these run-ins are fine, but he gets threatened often by inmates.

mine DH too. The less you think about it the easier it is to have to deal with. If you think about it all the time you end up making yourself crazy!

Yes..my dh is an electrician. Some days he is just pulling pipe while other days he is working on live wires, walking on roofs or climbing around inside ceilings. I hate when he doesnt get enough sleep because he needs to focus on what he is doing so much.
Same here. I was relieved when he stopped working in the subway tunnels. At least now he's working with live wires in an office building where there is more light.
As for the wives of the Iron Workers - your DHs have balls of steel. I've seen how they walk around the new buildings. They truly are amazing!

well thank got my Dh doesnt walk around on the building he fabricates those beams inside the shop- still very dangerouse though. he has come within in centimeters of loosing his hands and beams have almost dropped on his head. Its really crazy- I tell him not to tell me too much cause I would freak out. He has already had 4 injuries that required the ER visit and hernia that he was out for a few months.

I tell DH the same thing - I don't want to hear the day to day, "this happened to this guy".

yes, he is a firefighter and a tactical paramedic with the SWAT team.
I know he is highly trained, I try not to worry either.
