I went to the mall the other day with 2 boys, no stroller...its hand holding or else
or else what though? I kept saying "Emma, do you want to go home?" She would say NO! So I would say then hold mommy's hand. Of course she didn't though!
Did you pretend like you were leaving then...when she didn't hold your hand?

Re: Does Your Toddler Hold Your Hand In Stores?
Its RARE that I will if I dont have a stroller go into a store with him...and yes he holds my hand or we leave and he HATES when its a store to hold my hand, so usually I will have to carry him. He is perfect holding my hand if we are walking outside, but in the stores there is just TOO much to see.

Re: Does Your Toddler Hold Your Hand In Stores?
Marron NEVER wants to hold my hand. Not in stores, not in parking lots, not in streets, nothing!! She starts screaming, "Mommy, it's MY hand!!" and she will pull away and drop down to the ground so I would be dragging her by her arm if I held on. In parking lots and streets I usually have to hold her arm because she does NOT have ANY say there. Now when I try to hold her hand by other cars she yells at me that I have to hold her arm!! But I often end up carrying her out there because she just won't hold on.

Sometimes he will, he isn't a huge fan of crowds, so he will hold my hand in a crowd. In a store, maybe not.

Re: Does Your Toddler Hold Your Hand In Stores?
In stores? No. Everywhere else? Yes.
There is too much temptation in stores I guess
I was in Kohls last Saturday and I did the same thing, but I decided to just hold him (only had to get a few things) when there were no carts with the seat. What drove me nuts was that there were a bunch of ladies who took those carts to put their pocketbooks in!! when there were other carts there. So I put him down by the toys to looka t something and he is playing, when it was time to go it was also tantrum time, this lady goes "Oh you need a card with a seat like this" and she point to where her POCKETBOOK was!!! So I say there were none left b/c of people like her

Re: Does Your Toddler Hold Your Hand In Stores?
She doesn't hold my hand, but I always have a long talk with her before we go anywhere about how she has to stay close to me and if she doesn't then back in the stroller she goes, or back home. After a few times of revoking her privileges, she got it and now generally she stays next to me when we're at a store.

Re: Does Your Toddler Hold Your Hand In Stores?
It depends...if we are around things she loves to touch then no, but just waking through the mall, yes. she has to touch everything and that requires no hand holding.
I did by the leash thing but havent used it yet. I rather use that then have my kid snatched by so lunatic.

No because I needed to finish getting my things I don't think that leaving thing works for my kids in stores though, Nicholas always says OKAY! Chuck E Cheese maybe or the park!!
Kate, I was thinking the same thing!! All the senior citizens had the carts with the seats. I was annoyed, but it was my own fault for not bringing my stroller in I guess.

Re: Does Your Toddler Hold Your Hand In Stores?
She has her days where she just wants to bolt and run - she thinks stores are her personal playground! You should see how she expects people to get out of HER way But I know she is just learing this so I try to have a cart near me for when she gets into the bolt stage. I haven't had a problem yet so far. But I usually bring the stroller into stores or malls where I don't have ready access to a cart - just in case.
