Yes all the time. She's a very independent kid...always has been since she was a baby.

Not ever! He is now 5 AND still doesn't!!!! My daughter on the other hand, 3 could play for hours and my 6 month old son can too!

DD is just over 3 and only in the last few months has she started playing alone.

My DS never did. It was my own fault-- as a SAHM, I fell victim to the mentality that I needed to be engaging/stimulating/interacting every minute of the day. Guess what that produces... a kid who doesn't know how to entertain himself. In fact, this didn't improve till DD was born and he HAD to entertain himself more because I simply couldn't be available every minute.

With DD, I made sure to give her opportunities to do her own thing, and she entertains herself beautifully.

My DS who is almost 2 does but my DD who is 4 never does. She ALWAYS wants someone to play with her.

DS is 18 months and still won't play alone. He's starting to entertain himself a little more, but I have to be close by. It's probably my own doing because ever since he was born, I felt like I should be interacting with him every moment of the he day. I really don't mind though.

Most of the time. He'll even flip through books if they are out. But then there are days when he is attached to my leg.

Yes.

Yes, DD plays on her own a lot. She'll bring me over a book to read or have me help her with certain toys, but she is fine by herself too.

Very much. She is extremely independent.

Yes. DS is 19 months today and great at independent play. I started early on "letting him be" while I was across the room folding laundry or cooking. I found sometimes that I would cut off a cute babble session or interupt a moment of progression so I would just watch. Even now, I find myself not taking advantage of my own independent moment and just watch him from behind a door!

Yes! He really does enjoy playing by himself. Sometimes he wants us to play with him or help him with something but a lot of times, he likes to play by himself.

Yes, on occassion. There are times where she gets mad that i'm there trying to play and she wants to just play alone. And times where i can't leave because she wants the interaction. I'd say it's 50/50

If I'm in the room - yes, if not she is looking for me.

Yes DD is 2 1/2 and will play by herself. Not for long stretches of time, but she does play with her trains, cars, dollhouse, etc. by herself. Some days though, she wants constant attention!

My son prefers a play buddy but will play alone too. I watch another little boy during the day and if I am not playing with them they will play next to each other. I guess it is kind of like he likes to play among him but they are still a bit too young to really interect. With me or his dad he always asks us to read, do puzzles with him ect ect. I guess he has a pretty good balance in this area

DS will play alone for quite a while but if he catches a glimpse of me, it's over... Often, he'll come and sit on my lap or walk up to me and show me something but will continue to play on his own. It's so cute to watch too!
