i think it would look funny too! especially if you wore it with your e-ring! i told her that everyone here said its a Jewish practice to have a plain band and being that we are not Jewish, her FH must be wrong (or just jealous, whichever helps them sleep at night ).
ever since SIL got engaged, she's been sizing up everything that DH and I do. so i've decided that i'm not going to go out of my way to help her if she's gonna act like a child.

It is a Jewish practice not to get married in a band that has stones. They wanted the ring to be continuous, with no breaks and they want it so that people at the ceremony have no question as to whether it is a continuous ring. In fact, I could wear no other rings for the ceremony. My hands had to be free of jewelry. My mom had my e-ring on her pinky!!!!
The religion does not place any significance on continuing to wear the ring that you got married in. I wear my diamond band now. It is a very simple pave eternity band.

I am Jewish and got married with my grandmother's plain gold wedding band. After the ceremony I put on my wedding band with diamonds.

my SIL just told me that her FH said that mine and DH's wedding bands are "wrong" because we have diamonds in them. because now our rings have no "religious" meaning. W T F? anyone ever heard of this????
Hahahahh that sounds like something her FH said in order to prevent her from spending $$$ on one with diamonds. SUCKER!!!! heheheheheh jk.
Mine has diamonds. Never heard of the religious "no diamonds" connotation, yet again, I'm not a religious person.

I am Jewish. My wedding band has no diamonds in it. I was married in my mother's wedding band which also had no diamonds in it. My sister was married in my father's wedding band and switched to her diamond wedding band after her ceremony. DH and I plan on buying me an eternity band eventually for an anniversary. We preferred to spend more money on the wedding than jewelry. It was more practical for us. I look at it as having something to look forward to.

i'm sorry...i should clarify. SIL's e-ring is white gold and they plan on buying yellow gold wedding bands. that particular combo is what i meant.

My band is platinum. This is what my hand looks like with my e-ring and band without diamonds. Hardly strange. Once I get my eternity band, I will more than likely move my e-ring to my right hand as the eternity band will compete too much with the e-ring. I have never been one to wear a lot of jewelry.
