Dog sitters I think I need one please tell me who you use
I'm in the port jeff area
who do you use? how much do they charge? is it a service or a person?
we have my mom doing it now but she stinks. she lets my dog rip and eat everything while she sleeps on the couch. and we PAY HER!!!
I have a girl that my vet recommended but she is expensive $10 per dog per 45mins so its $20 each 45 min session she comes to my house!! I can't afford that because I need a person for 3-4 hours per day. And any time I ask her to sit lately she can't for all different reasons. besides letting the dogs outside, they don't need to do anything but watch them. they can watch tv the entire time, as long as the dogs are out of their crate and not eating anything.

Re: Dog sitters I think I need one please tell me who you use
This doesn't help you much since I live in Islip Terrace and it's a bit far from you, but I just figured I can give you an idea of prices. There is a lady down the street from me who has a business out of her house, it's a really great set up. She has 4 dog houses in her yard plus an area in her garage. Since we live so close, we just have her come to our house and the dogs stay here, rather than stay with her. For dogs who stay with her, she charges $25 per dog, per day, but she gives us a break since we have two dogs and they stay at our house, so we pay $30 per day. Our dogs really love her and she plays with them probably 20 minutes each time she comes over, which literally is like 6 times a day.
Sorry your mom isn't the best dog sitter! We have my parents come over sometimes to watch them if we're not going away for long to save money, but I know that the lady down the street is more playful with them so we like using her and spending the money.

I got your FM and then I read your thread, my girl wouldn't come to your area (too far) and she's more expensive than what you're paying now. Sorry!

how much do you pay? I'm just trying to get a rough idea on what it costs, I'm just basising it on the one sitter. yours charges more then $20 per 45 minute session?

Worse. $25 for a half hour visit. I usually only need her for that long, to walk the dogs and feed them once. DH works from home 3x a week and I bring them to my job 2x a week so they're pretty much never alone. So the cost, and the peace of mind, are worth it to us.

my older dog who is 9 has severe anxiety. he freaks when I'm leaving. the puppy would be fine with a short break just to pee, but the older one, sadly has a lot of medical conditions and tremors, so its hard to leave him for more then 4-5 hours at a time. I could have someone come in for an hour in the middle of the day but it would be nice if I could have someone to check on him more frequent. this dog had brain surgery at 10 months old. He's been sick ever since we got him. I'm so lucky he has even lived this long! as he gets older his issues are more serve

Call your vet and see if one of the kennel people (they are usually high school/college students) would be interested. We have been hiring them for approx one year now and it has been going really well. We pay $10 an hour.
