I am the odd man here, because I would get involved. That dirtbag could come and retaliate against me,but I could not live with myself knowing he's beating her and doing nothing.

That’s a tough one. I wouldn’t get directly involved as in having her move in with me. You didn’t mention kids, which I know greatly complicates things. A grown woman who won’t get herself help? Are there no places to help people in these situations in Germany?

You say the police track everything? Would they give her abuser your info? If not then I’d maybe call the police the next time you hear them.

Yeah this is the part that would prevent me from getting too involved. BTDT - if she has the means and opportunity to leave and she hasn't, I wouldn't risk getting involved. It won't turn out well. OP offered a decent amount of help and that's enough. I would draw the line there.

I'm not usually one to mind my own business and if kids were involved, my opinion would be different. This woman doesn't seem to want to leave. Why risk retaliation if she doesn't want help?
