Donated blood again
This is not me bragging about donating blood, just a reminder that everyone who is able should try and donate. I understand that not everyone can (I've had lots of times over the years where I couldn't donate..... they didn't want diabetics' blood for the longest time, and I've had several surgeries over the years).
The summer months are very critical for blood donations. They are apparently in very short supply.

This is a very great post. I read that people are less likely to donate due to the Swine flu paranoia (not sure how it relates), so this is a great reminder. Thanks!

I donate 2x a year, I cannot now as I am pregnant but plan to start up again as soon as I can such a great feeling and such an easy thing to do, IMHO

I donate everytime we have a blood drive. Our company offers a great incentive - we get 1/2 day vacation. That's not why I do it but it is a great incentive.

They have other methods of donating where you don't lose any blood volume. I've done platelets in the past, and I plan on doing Automated red cell donation (Alyx) next time.

Incentives are great. The NY Blood Center has an incentive program where you earn points for each donation. After 400 points (a standard donation is 75 points. Red Blood Cells is 200. Platelets are 100, and there are "bonus" points for critical times.), you can cash in your points for all sorts of items.
