I have a question.
It seems many of those who offered up time, volunteering, $ and other support - at one point or another - felt that something was off, that something didn't seem right. I say this based on what I have read here.
Why did the help continue? If I was helping some woman who seemed to be not all there, and I was knee-deep in mold and god knows what else, and she was outside lounging in the sun, I'd probably stop and wonder WTF is going on.
I'm not faulting anyone for helping, I think it was great you all banned together and it's easy for me to say what I think I'd do when I wasn't in your shoes, but can anyone give an idea of why this behavior continued to be supported and enabled?

I imagine that this situation erupted over many years not over a few weeks.

Honestly? We thought she was medicating to deal with her loss. It was still really new. I don't think any of us thought to judge at the time b/c I don't think we knew how someone *should* act.

I agree. I was on LIW for only about 2 months when he died. It was shocking, but I didn't donate b/c I just didn't know her and I didn't have money at the time.
As time went on, she asked for more and more stuff. I didn't say anything b/c I didn't want to be mean. After a few years, it was like come on already. I also noticed less people replied to her threads.

That's the problem with all of the policing that goes on here. Could you really imagine someone calling out a new widow, or even so much as suggesting that maybe a new widow, who has a child, was undeserving of the help? C'mon, now. Here you have someone who is a proven POS and you still have others (who are well aware of what went down) still defending her on a certain level. So if known shitbags get defended, why would ANYONE think it would be worth the drama to call out a new widow?!
Reminds me so much of the DebMaher drama (back in 2005) - a bunch of us knew she was a fake and was posting on LIF under a new name (when LIF first started) but "she" ( still don't know if it was really a man or woman) had told a couple of posters that she had cancer. Now, things were much less PC and not everyone needed to walk on eggshells All.the.time. to worry about offending people, but even then, none of us were going to call her out. Then the shit hits the fan, and people ask why no one said anything. Well....why do you think?! lol

No, DebG is an amazing person and her cancer is unfortunately very real. DebMaher was way before any of this- back on LIW then came back when LIF was started. Two very, very different posters.

Oh ok, while I am not glad she has cancer I am glad it was real. This is not coming out right- I hope you know what I mean. Thanks for clearing that up! I always felt for her.
