What were you guys trying to do? You said knock down wood? Were you throwing out stuff? building stuff? Also, how do you throw out crap that you dont know if it is important to the homeowner? This sounds like a contaminated mess.
DH & I were mostly doing Demo. We were taking down the sheetrock including the ceilings, pulled up some of the flooring, and took down any non-support 2x4s inside the house. Everything had to be taken out as the mold spread behind the walls and into the frame of the house. Most of their personal possessions were out of the house as they were already living in the trailer for a few months at that point. There was some random stuff in the upstairs closets and basement thought, but not a lot.

WOW! Just...wow. Following this thread there is really nothing else to say. This woman got over on so many people for so long! So sad that she jaded an entire online community.
For what it's worth, although things get out of hand on this site sometimes, and I may not agree with all (or many ) of you, I still think this is a very giving and caring, albeit, more cautious community.

As others have mentinoed, the problem is that the newer posters couldn't glean all of this from the thread initially, and all they saw were vaguely hostile and sarcastic comments about the OP. (Not me, I've been around and know exactly what happened, although the sperm bit -   .)
I think the next time she posts and alludes to the drama herself, like she did here, someone needs to just post a link to this thread or an otherwise summarized post of what happened.
I 10000000% do NOT blame the people she hurt for being completely disgusted with her and wanting to call her out, but it's more effective to do it in a way that makes others understand.

Wow--I knew she came on and asked for things but I had no idea about the donations and the house since it went down before I joined LIF. Thanks for the heads up. I'm so surprised that she hasn't been blocked from this site!

I was one of the ones who showed up to help with the house. The smell was unbearable. We wore masks, because of the mold everywhere, and you could smell the ammonia through the masks. At one point we tried doubling up the masks. Of course we couldn't breathe and had to go back to one mask, but Ron got a good chuckle or two out of that part, as we then had one mask on top of our head and the other one covering our nose & mouth. Not to make light of it, but it was such a heavy day, any levity was welcomed.
I might not have worn the proper shoes  but at least I wasn't lounging while everyone so selflessly helped to restore my house. As I recall our "friend" spent more time chatting, smoking and eating then contributing.

I can't believe some of what I have read on here and it really puts any comments that were about made about the OP into perspective. I had NO clue about all of this Janet drama but after reading every post on this thread and gaining a better understanding of some of the things that took place, I can COMPLETELY understand why some of the women on here are very upset with her. I would be too if the tables were turned!

I just have no words.....I've been on this site for a few years but had no IDEA about many of the things posted on this thread. In the past, i've defended Janet and almost felt like it was a witch-hunt whenever she posted. Now, I can understand why!!!! That is insane!

I feel way worse for the kids you teach than for the children of the women who participated in revealing the truth in this thread. You know, after page 3. What kind of teacher makes comments like that without reading the whole thread so you can know the entire story?
