Dormer advice for new home owner
My husband and I are planning to purchase a home that we have fallen in love with. It's our first home. It's a tiny cape, with two bedrooms upstairs that have crazy slanted ceilings on both sides. We would like to make an offer but know that we would need to expand these ceilings in at least one room (and if possible caper the dormer to make the room bigger). My question is: have you extended your cape, added a bath, and how much did it cost? We're not sure if were in a place financially to do this and want to do all our homework up front!

I looked into this a few years ago. It was $75k plus and I believe that was just the shell.

We just did this - literally. We added 3 BR and a bath upstairs, just the shell. The shell alone was affordable, it's all the stuff that goes with it.
We added 3 BR, large bathroom and an attic, (shell only for all that), all new windows throughout house, all new siding, porch, for about $90,000

I'd say $100k is a good estimate. It could hopefully be lower, but better to over estimate.

We are using Forman Construction.
