double stroller spinoff: kids are 4 years apart???
Just curious if you have kids 4 years apart do you need a double stroller and which one works best for you???
I have the snap and go and a Maclaren (which I love). We were thinking of just getting another Maclaren with the side clamps that create a side by side double. But that's only effective when baby #2 is out of the infant seat, right?
I can def see myself needing a double when we go places. Do I get a sit and stand or a tradition double. Too many options.....they should just make one

My DC are 3yrs apart and I was on the fence with a double. DS was unpredictable walking so I decided to get the baby jogger city select. The 2nd seat is optional and you can attach/remove it when it suits. Lately we have been going on 4mile walks and it def comes in handy with my DS.

the only exercise i get is from my walks, so josh will be in the stroller for awhile.
in the AM, I let him ride his bike along me, jessie, single stroller.
at night, he is tossed into sit and stand. i like it. he has never had a snack tray before, so he is in love with it.

Re: double stroller spinoff: kids are 4 years apart???
Honestly, I wouldn't get a double at that point. My older DD is 4.5 and the only time in remote memory that she's been in a stroller was at Disney in November. Before that, I couldn't even tell you.
My girls are 20 mos. apart and I bought the Sit and Stand. I remember last summer using it to walk to my mom's house (which is about 1.5 miles away) and I nearly DIED on the way back--it is very heavy with an older kid (she was a bit under 4 at the time) in it.
Before that, in the 2 years I owned it, I could probably count on two hands the times I used it. My older one always walked holding onto her sister's stroller--yes, even at 2 years old. I don't plan on using it again and #s 2 and 3 will be 3.5 years apart.
ETA: Unlike some of the ladies above, my daily routine never consisted of walking several miles a day, so this is what worked for us...

I love the Maclaren Twin Techno. That said, I am not comfortable putting an infant in there before 3 mos, and they can't be in the infant seat.
There is a Sit and Stand in the One step ahead catalog (I think it's by Contours) that comes with 2 regular seats but one seat can be removed to convert it to a regular sit and stand. Maybe that would be a good option for you?

Re: double stroller spinoff: kids are 4 years apart???
I would try to find something inexpensive bc I have a feeling your older one will not be in it very long. But check the weight limits on the seats too. I know many of them are up to 40 lbs. My son will be 4 next month and he's almost, if not already, 40 lbs. Of course so is my DD, who is almost 6 so I know weight varies in kids. It puts a lot of stress on the wheels as they get heavier so you might find it really hard to push and navigate. I had my DS in the stroller the other day bc I knew it would be a long walk and I miss that!!!

Re: double stroller spinoff: kids are 4 years apart???
DD and DS are 3 1/2 years apart and DD just rides her bike or runs alongside - we usually just walk one mile. If she gets tired there is a place at the back of my stroller that she can stand on.
It depends on your child - mine has always preferred to run -even at an early age - I could see my sister needing one for my niece though as she is not as active as my DD, so only you can tell if your older child will need to sit on walks.

Re: double stroller spinoff: kids are 4 years apart???
I would just do a sit and stand. At 2.5 years old DD is already giving me trouble about sitting in a stroller I would imagine that at 4 she will have no tolerance at all.

Re: double stroller spinoff: kids are 4 years apart???
Thanks ladies....
my son is already 40 lbs has been for a while lol
I want to be able to take daily walks to get rid of the baby weight. When we go on walks now, Jack will walk with me or he'll push the empty stroller because he def wants/needs it by the time we're on the way back. So I'm used to pushing the heavy stroller.
Janice what kind of sit and stand do you have? Will the graco safeseat fit in it?
I have to research these other kinds. Thanks again
