BTDT moms...kids 2 years apart?
DS is 17 months. We thought we would wait to TTC until later, so they would be 3-4 years apart...but lately it seems like closer would be better - for various reasons.
Just wondering what mommies think who have kids 2 years apart. what would you say are the pros and cons, so to speak?
I had pictured 4 years apart... we would be more settled with finances adn a house, DS would be going to school a little, so I would have special time with the new DC, etc.
But now just the thought of it is giving me big time baby fever!

Check back with me next year. We are due with #2 early December and DS will be 2 years, 3 months old when the new baby comes along.
I'm sure it will be tough, but lots of other people do it... sometimes even closer together or with multiples!!!

Re: BTDT moms...kids 2 years apart?
DS#1 and #2 are 2 years and 3 days apart and DS#2 (#3) are 16 months apart. I feel that the closer the better. I find that the 16 months difference is actually better than the 2 year split.
The boys are 3.5 and 1.5 and really starting to play more together and as time goes on I think that they will be really close. We like the idea of them beind in somewhat of the same circle and not to far apart in school from each other. I think that whatever works for you is what works. I didn't want to get out of the baby stage just to start all over again. I also didn't want the kids to feel too separate from each other ...IMO.
2 years is great and 16 months is surprisingly even better.

Re: BTDT moms...kids 2 years apart?
Ask me next month. DS is 25 months and I am going to have a repeat c/s at the end of this month. I got PG when DS was 17-18 months old. So far I will say that being pregnant while DS was 17-25 months has been really great. He is able to do a lot more on his own and wants to help (i.e. set the table, put his shoes on, etc.)

Re: BTDT moms...kids 2 years apart?
My sibs and I are 3 years apart and personally I like it........*kinda*. There are 3 of us and between my sister and I is my brother which makes my sister and I six years apart. It's a big difference when you're growing up and because we were always in different places in our life and we never seemed to be really close. Even now as adults we're not as close as I would like so for that reason the age difference was a little too much between her and I.
That being said, if you're only planning on 2 kids I don't think 3 years is bad at all. My brother and I were close enough in age to play together but far enough apart in age where we had our own friends and lives too which I think is important. My DH and his brother are only 2 years apart and his mom always made my DH include his brother and invite him everywhere.........honestly, it was SO annoying but I guess part of that too depends on how you raise your kids. Either way, whether it's 2 or 3 years apart you can't go wrong.
EDIT - My DH and I have been together since we were 15-16 years old which is why I knew how annoying it was to always have to have his brother around. DH and I had same friends in high school even before we were dating and his older brother was always the "tag-along". Just wanted to clarify because reading it back it would seem weird that I would say it was annoying unless you knew the history. I was there.

Re: BTDT moms...kids 2 years apart?
Mine are 3 years apart but I really wish they were 2 years apart. Maybe it would have been more physically demanding last year, but now that my DD is 3 she is alot more "fiery" and argumentative with me. She challenges me on everything all day long. She is absolutely exhausting. Last year she was alot more agreeable and easier to deal with. I don't really think it is because of the baby. I really think the 3s are harder than the 2s.

Re: BTDT moms...kids 2 years apart?
Thanks so much for all your opinions! It's funny - lately I am hearing that it's the 1s and the 3s that are terrible - not so much the 2s. LOL - DS definitely fits this pattern so far.....
thanks ladies!!!!!!!!

Re: BTDT moms...kids 2 years apart?
MY Ds's are 22 months apart and I love it. Sure it is tough sometimes...esp in the beginning...but I am reusing everything I had with DS#1 and they will be great friends!! Plus I am not so far from diapers and bottles so it wasnt so hard to start again

Re: BTDT moms...kids 2 years apart?
my girls are 25 months apart, we wanted them to be close in age so it worked out for us. the start was very hard but now after 3 months i got the swing of things. I would do it now so they are super close!!
