Dove Spinoff

So we all like that they are using full figured women in ads...

Now...would you really want to see full figured men? And why didn't they use them? Do men not need Dove?

Re: Dove Spinoff

sure, why not. i don't see anything wrong/non-appealing about using men. now SOCIETY as a whole, and the media, would most probably disagree with me! Chat Icon

Re: Dove Spinoff

I think in households women make more of the purchasing decisions, esp. on HBA. I remember in an advertising class I took in college we did a case study on Sears and their tools. All the commercials they had were geared at their tools, but people weren't going into shop. They needed to get the women in as a hook, and then the men would buy the tools. So then they came out with the "Come see the softer side of Sears" ad campaign, and had a great deal more success.

Because they are trying to appeal to a certain demographic - those of us who are not model thin who purchase items for our home and everyday use. I don't know how many other products would use these women, though. Generally, they use thin, attractive women to sell stuff because they think it will appeal to women more than the women in the Dove ads. Like....if you use this shampoo, look how fabulous you will look. But using a certain kind of soap doesn't really affect how you will look, but aybe how you feel. I think Dove is going for another approach. I am not sure what full figured guys would sell successfully.....

I don't know if any of that makes sense as I am reading it back Chat Icon

But i would rather see a hot man lathering up shampoo rather than any woman...
I understand that this particular product is for women only though! But i am generalizing

I love the new dove adds. They are real women and I like that there is double standard finally in our favor!!!!!Chat Icon

ETA: I also think many guys don't really realize that those ads with stick figures and airbrushed and often come with poor health practicies/eating disorders.
At least we understand that the guys in the adds are just "eye candy". I rather a "real man" anyday.

Am I the only one who does not "get into" the commercials with a hot guy? They really do nothing for me. Now give me an everyday good looking man whatever size and shape and I'm interested!
