Down the Road Vacation Plans
we are going to DIsney in April and back to Florida for a week in November...but I'm talking DOWN THE ROAD - the next 2 years or so...what's on your wish list of things to do?
We:
1. want to take a cruise to Italy next year 2. I have to get to Ireland!!! But I'll need 2 weeks, at least.
Anyone else have any good ideas that you are planning alone with DH?

Re: Down the Road Vacation Plans
Since we are saving for a house I doubt we can do England like we wanted too - maybe next year.
We are going to Cope Cod area in Oct for a few days so we may shoot up to Boston for a day as well.
We plan on going to the carolina's/dc/penn maybe in the summer for a "local" trip. Keeping it very lowkey.

Re: Down the Road Vacation Plans
Well it FEELS forever away -- but we're going to London & Paris in November.
After that -- I really really want to try and go to Australia in the next couple of years.
Also, I've never been to Peru - where my dad is from. I only want DH & I to go if my mom and dad come with us to visit my aunts & uncles out there, but its hard cause my dad and I work together and if we both go--no one will be here to run the office!
edited for wording.

I've been to Paris, have you been? I was totally shocked how big the Eiffel Tower really was!!! And we spent the day at Versailles, it was awesome! I would love to go back to Versailles again, completely breathtaking!
Have a great time!

Within 2 years I really hope to take a road trip from NY to CA. And take a lot of time doing it.

Re: Down the Road Vacation Plans
We're going to Myrtle Beach with some friends in July, but down the road here are a couple of trips I'd love...
-We want to go back to Vegas for our 5th wedding anniversary next year...stay at the Wynn, get our vows renewed (preferably by Elvis!), etc.
-San Fran/Napa
-DC
-Key West
-Greek Islands...this is a long ways off though!

Very cool! A friend of mine is from Venezuela and he travels to Ecuador and Colombia a lot.
My family lives in Lima and Trujillo. My parents are going in May -- and they are taking a trip to Machu Picchu in Cuzco.

I would LOVE to go to Israel, but I don't think it's going to happen...
We're going to Phoenix and Santa Fe in August, and potentially somewhere sunny over Christmas break (we're both teachers ). Any ideas?

We'd love to do something like this. I'd like to find a 2 week 'tour' of Europe that brings us thru various countries. But most of what I've found is just centered around one particular country.
Thinking about it, I'd like to do a land cruise. I was hoping there would be a similar type train tour, but I havent found anything like that yet - but in full disclaimer I'll admit that I really haven't looked that hard yet either.

Re: Down the Road Vacation Plans
I am currently researching renting an RV so we could drive to Florida. We are probably going to skip a BIG vacation in 2010 so we will go in 2011. If we like it and find it comfortable we are going to plan a cross country month long trip!

You know -- I've found that going on the Travelocity forums has helped me soooo much with planning this vacation.
We are using London as our jumping off point and just taking it from there - and going there and speaking with people who are from the areas we want to visit -- they have given me links to fantastic websites, tips about how to get from point A to point B and lots of cost effective ideas!
Seriously -- I don't know how anyone planned vacays before the internet!

We kind of made our own "land cruise" - it's not hard - the Eurorail is very easy, you can buy tickets and make reservations online and in English. ANd sometimes they run specials if you are going to more then one country. The trains (ICE) are very very nice and comfortable. The local trains are more like Amtrak. We went from Mainz, Germany to Munich for a few days, to Paris for afew days, back to Germany - went to the north- Hannover and Hameln, back south to Heidelberg. I realize we double-backed to the south but we had tix to a NFL EUrope game in Frankfurt.

Re: Down the Road Vacation Plans
We were supposed to go to Aruba with friends for two weeks this summer, but right now that is on the fence. It's just too expensive unless our timeshare swap comes thru for us.
Plans to go on a cruise next April with a group of friends. Sailing on the new Royal Caribbean vessel, Oasis of the Seas. It's HUGE - over 5k passengers. Then next August probably going to our timeshare in Florida for a week, maybe extend it by a few days and go exploring up the gulf coast.
I'm gearing up to the 'big' vacation I'd like to plan to celebrate DH's 50th b-day in 2012 - maybe to Hawaii. I'd rather splurge on a trip that throw him a party. Selfish on my part, but the trip memories will outlast the party memories.

Oooo, that's a good idea...DH will be 40 in 2 years, maybe a vacation instead of a party!!! Parties don't really thrill him anyway.

Nothing selfish about THAT! Heck that sounds like an awesome idea. And when you come back -- you can still get friends & family together for a drink or two to celebrate.
I'm all about having my cake and eating it too.
