Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

Just curious what the norm is here... We are still on 2 naps and I cannot see dropping to one anytime soon because of how short the naps are.

I know it typically happens around now (Sasha is 11 months), so was curious what "normal sleeping babies" do.

So, at what age did DC drop to one nap?

And, what time of day is their nap typically? OH, and if you can put their wake up/bedtime that would be great too!

Thanks!

Re: Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

Kaydyn started giving us a problem with the morning nap around 10 months. She was fighting going to sleep and was sleeping less and less. So while my DH was on unemployment he switched her over to one nap and that's what we've done since. She was 11 months.

She now wakes up at 7:30am
Takes a nap from 1ish-3:30/4ish
Goes to bed at 9:30pm.

Re: Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

DS went down to 1 nap at about 15/16 months I think.

Before that he would nap at 10AM for 1 1/2 to 2 hours and again at 3PM for 1 hr.

Now he naps at around 11PM for 2 hours, sometimes 3 if I am lucky.

Re: Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

allison just dropped to one nap at 11 months. it's not fun, i don't recommend it Chat Icon

she USED to wake up at 7-8, nap from 10-12 then nap from 3-5, bedtime 7-8.

NOW she's up 7-8, naps from 12-1 or 2 (depending if i caught her at the right time, her sleepy cues are non existant at this point!) and then she's down for the night 7-8.

this all coincided with a trip to nyc that allison and DH went on (i had to stay behind) i want to say had she not had that vacation and been all out of wack with sleep and naps, she still might be on 2 naps a day, but who's to tell. i know i've tried so hard to get her down for a 2nd nap but she just won't take it.

i tell everyone, enjoy those 2nd naps while they last!!!! i miss my "me" time!!

DD started transitioning to 1 nap at 16 months, by 18 months she was a solid 1 nap.

DS never really got much of a morning nap because we were always on the go with DD. He transitioned at 12 months.

They both nap together from 1 - 3:30 ish.

ETA:

DD (3 y.o) goes into bed at 8:30 falls asleep around 9 - 10pm. Wakes at 7am. Naps 2 - 3ish (goes in at 1 though.)

DS (19 months) sleeps 8 - 8, naps 1 - 3:30

Re: Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

DS transitioned around 16/17mths to 1 nap.

He was:
up at 8:30
nap 11-12:30ish
nap 2-3:30ish
bedtime 8:30

He would resist the 2oclock nap, then when he started resisting the 11 I switched him

Now he takes 1 nap from 1:30ish to 4ish

DS is still pretty much on 2 naps. On a rare occasion when he'll take 1 if he wakes up late and goes down later for his morning nap

Samantha still takes 2 nice naps a day... I do not want her going to 1, and I tell her that on a daily basis!

Re: Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

She switched to one nap around 18-19 months. Now at 27 months she takes one nap that ranges between 2-4 hours. Usually 2, but the 4 hour naps are a little piece of heaven Chat Icon

Re: Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

My DS dropped down to the 1 nap right after he turned 12 months. He started refusing to take his regular morning nap and now he takes 1 - two hour nap usually from 11-1 or 11:30-1:30. He wakes for the day around 8am and goes to bed around 8:30pm.

Re: Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

DS is 18 months and I'd say for the past 2 months, he's been down to 1 nap.

It was something he did himself. I noticed it took him longer to fall asleep during his AM nap and his afternoon nap started getting shorter.

So I started putting him down later for his morning nap and that nap (11ish) turned in to a 2 to 3 hour nap. (knock wood) Chat Icon

DS went down to one nap a day at about 20 months, and when we first did it we moved his nap to later, from 11ish to 12ish. Now he sleeps about 2 1/2 hours

We are basically down to one nap now ( usually around 10 or 11am) , unless for some reason she falls asleep in the car or once in a blue moon at home in the afternoon...

Re: Down to one nap-- when (age) and what time of day?

I thought around 11 months they were transitioning to 1 nap and i was so upset because I am totally not ready for that. They'd be in the crib for 1-2 hours and not fall asleep. It lasted about a week and a half and now they're back to 2 naps a day. They definitely need the two naps, I don't see them going to 1 anytime soon.

My DD is gonna be a year soon. She wakes up around 7:30.

She takes one nap around 9:30 or 10. It usually lasts 2 hrs. Then around 1:30 or 2 she takes another nap that lasts about 2 hrs as well. She is usually awake for no longer than 2-3 hours unless we are out somewhere.

Of course, there are the days that a nap will randomly last only an hour. She generally goes down very easily for her naps/bedtime.

She goes to bed around 6:30/7.
