i HAD to jump in here because this was just a topic a couple of days ago between me and some mommy friends of mine.
most of them don't wipe for just pee... but i always did. poor DS has such senssitive skin... the area is always raw. SO, i am going to try not wiping when it's only pee and see if it helps.
like everythign else for parenting...whatever works for you!

I also put A&D on each diaper so its double duty of cleaning up pee and A&D
I really never heard anything about 'not wiping' for just pee

The only time I don't is if it's in the middle of the night and don't want to wake him up even more with a cold wipe.
Same here - every time except if I have to do a night change.

Sometimes I wipe and sometimes I don't. I will wipe if there is an excessive amount of urine or if he has a little poo in his diaper.

Same here... 
Pee is mostly made up of water, but it also contains urea, which is a simple type of acid. It just makes sense to me to wipe it away, I would imagine any residual could make the skin raw...

I don't wipe for pee, never have, and my girls (1 and 2 years old) have each only had 1 diaper rash and have never been raw

Never heard of this before..I definately wipe for pee diapers...I can count on my hand how many times I didn't..and it was because it was late at night..and I forgot to wipe..LOL..my poor DD.

Id rather answer the question than rehash old stuff.
I afford my daughter the same courtesy I afford myself - I wipe myself when I pee, so I wipe her when SHE pees.
Same here. I also wipe myself with wipes after wiping with tissue. I am very anal about keeping my daughter and myself very fresh and clean.

I always did because I didn't want them to smell like pee & assumed I'd do the same for them as I do for myself.
In retrospect, my dd's skin was so sensitive if had I known the hospital recommended not to, I wouldn't have done it. It probably would have saved a lot of heartbreaking horrific rashes & raw skin for her.

there was jiust a huge thread on this not long ago if you want to search back for info,
me..its bad enough getting to wipe them if they go #2 with even sitting still or getting a diaper on them in general...noway.

I always use a wipe for the first morning diaper, and if she is really wet. Other times I don't, if its just a little.

For some reason this is one of those topics that apparently always becomes a contest..
I dont really care what other people do. As long the baby sitting on my lap doesnt stink it doesnt matter to me.
I wipe....I dont wipe...Heck Ive even not wiped a poopy diaper when Ive been surprised by a couple of nuggets.

After DD already getting one diaper rash having such sensitive skin, I tried various things and NOT wiping is what works best. She has not gotten a rash ever from urinating but not being wiped. In fact, I think wiping in the first place was what caused the rash. Also, I don't use wipes anymore. They were the main cause. I only use cotton that I wet to wipe off poo. Her bottom has been rash free since.
No wiping, no way, based on trial and error.

Same here, and DD has had maybe 2 rashes in her 18 months.
I am so proud   that my post a few months ago started such drama back then Boy, had I known, I wouldn't have asked.
Thankfully this thread seems a bit more civilized (so far)

I'm still confused as to why this topic, of all topics, has the potential to get heated.
Each parent is entitled to make this decision on their own...no right or wrong way. And I'm sure the kiddies could care less...heck up to a certain age many (hmmhmmm...Lucas) will stay in a dirty diaper with no concern.
I use baby wipes with every diaper change - no explanation needed - that's what I do. If he has a rash I use a warm wash cloth with water. And I use ointment with every change as well.

I do wipe after every changed diaper, but since DD has sensitive skin we use the Pampers sensitive wipes and have never had a problem with a rash or tender skin.
