Drinking while TTC

Just curious what your thoughts are on this? Is alcohol consumtion something you're trying to avoid, limit, or continue indulging in until you get a BFP?

Honestly, mothers and babies don't share a blood supply for a couple of weeks. The only issue I can foresee is if the MAN drinks too much. May make things a lil more challenging

I have a glass of wine every once in a while, so I don't think that would affect TTC, so no, I haven't stopped all together.

Who knows how long this journey will take, I don't want to put everything in my life on hold until it happens, because when it's supposed to happen, it will.

I still do everything I used to do before TTC. Having a few drinks isn't going to hurt. Enjoy your life who knows how long TTC might actually take.

i don't see why a couple of drinks would hurt....I actually know someone who is due in August who is still drinking AND smoking

Alcohol cosumption can affect both ovulation in females and in males can affect sperm formation, shape and motility. New studies also show that alcohol consumption in men can effect the DNA in sperm leading to potential birth defects.

The fetus officially taps into the mothers blood stream when it is 13 days old...So 13 days after fertilization.

Every woman needs to make teh best decision for themselves with what they are comfortable with......

Also, speak with your doctor and see what they advise.

i have a glass of wine with dinner every so often or on a special occasion, i haven't really drank more than that in years anyway, if i was a heavy drinker i might cut back a little but until that bfp it doesn't matter

I had a few drinks during the 2WW. I also had sushi the night before I got my BFP. I didn't change my drinking or eating habits while TTC.

Thank you to all of you who responded. I asked b/c Friday night I got really (unexpectantly) tipsy after having 2 glasses of wine, and it's been on my mind all weekend.

I've tried to cut back, but I love a glass of wine with dinner!

If this makes you feel any better, just think about how many people have gotten unexpectedly PG after a night of alcohol consumption and raucous sexual activity.

Lots of people are concerned with what they do while TTC because it is something they are very focused on (I know I was). I think a drink or two couldn't be terribly harmful, but excessive consumption might be. Then again, I was never a drinker - does nothing for me.

im paranoid so there will be no drinks for me... and thank you to the person posting about men- b/c my dh now wont be drinking when we are trying....

on the flip side- my sister had a martini or two when she was pregnant and her kid ended up fine so it doesnt always cause a defect.

I haven't had an alcoholic drink since February. Not because of TTC necessarily but because we don't drink. Secretly, I don't have the darn time to drink!!! Isn't that sad???

I don't change my routine for TTC, I just can't mess with my head that much.

I haven't really changed anything other than eating better and exercising. I'm not giving up my alcohol until I'm PG and I HAVE to !!! - That being said, I have a few drinks on the weekends or a glass of wine here or there during the week - I'm never one to get wasted, and I'm usually the driver anyway .........

I did not change a thing with TTC or during the 2WW. I only stopped drinking after my BFP.

The only thing I quit while TTC was smoking ( I quit the month before we started trying), I did also switch to half-caff so when I got PG it wouldn't be so difficult to cut down on coffee.

I was never a huge drinker, but if I wanted a glass of wine I'd have it because I knew once we got PG that would be the end for awhile

I only imited my drinking while i was taking clomid bc i dont like mixing alcohol w/ ANY medication.

Ive been TTC since Feb so i cant stop drinking altogether. Theres no reason.

We've been TTC since January and I have a drink here and there.
