Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
So the question I put to you is...Alcohol, booze, plonk...whatever you want to call it.
How do you feel about it? I'm OK with alcohol. When responsible about it, I'm OK with it.
Do you like drinking? I enjoy wine. White wine specifically. Sometimes I'll spike my tea at night with Disaronno (yum!). And when and if I'm at a bar, I enjoy Bicardo O and cran. Those things to me taste good. I'm not into beer because I don't like the taste. I'm sure if I didn't like the taste of any alcohol I wouldn't drink it just to drink.
Does it really make you feel good??? NO! I hate being drunk!!! I don't like that feeling and I swear I can't remember a single second of my Sophomore year of college because I was drunk 24/7. I think the anticipation of a wicked hangover prevents me from really going over the edge. I got drunk drunk the first time in a while a few weeks ago... wine... YUCK! I hated it. But a glass or two of wine or spiking my tea... that loosens me up and gets me nice and warm for bed.
How do you feel about drunk people? Hate 'em. I never understood how sober people found drunk people funny . I find most drunk people obnoxious, NOT funny. Besides, I have this thing about puke... I hate it and I get so nervous that drunk people are going to puke near or on me... strange I know... but it is what it is.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I enjoy drinking. I am mostly a beer drinker. It does make me feel good - I can't explain how but I enjoy the feeling. I don't drink to get drunk and can't remember the last time I had so much to drink that I was hungover/sick the next day.
I don't care to be around sloppy or angry drunk people, but most of the people I know just become a bit more animated after a few drinks. Their personalities don't change.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
DH and I enjoy our wine. We drink on the weekends. I don't enjoy getting drunk and being hung over, those were my college years and I don't want to have a repeat of those. But we definitely enjoy a good meal and a bottle of wine.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I enjoy drinking, but only wine and beer. I am not a big fan of mixed drinks and alcohol. It upsets my stomach b/c sometimes they can be quite sweet.
I often go out for drinks with workmates and sometimes students (they are the same age as me and they want to practise their English) on Friday nights. I think it is a big part of the culture here to go to the pub.
I also enjoy having some wine (wine is cheap and really good here) after a long day at work. I don't drink to get drunk, but rather to relax.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I don't like the taste of alcohol, so I only drink fruity drinks that aren't very strong.
I honestly could take it or leave it. Only been drunk once, I was 27 and it sucked! I usually only have one or two drinks, one is enough to make me buzzed. The only time I feel like I need it is when I have had a really long work week. I could live without alcohol.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
well its appropriate that im drinking a glass of white merlot while reading this huh
i love drinking.. i hate being sloppy drunk i enjoy beer and wine... despise hard alcohol me and dh always have our house stocked with various types of beverages
my thoughts.. nothing beats a good glass of wine to chill out...
i was a total binge drinker for many years.. but have since slowed down and learned to enjoy it not be a 'kid' about it... i do let myself go like 2 times a year.. and always reminds me.. umm never again... so each year it gets less and less... so far this year zero 'sloppy' times so im growing up!
i now enjoy being sober and looking at drunkies.. it does make me laugh lots haha

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
DH isn't feeling well so I'm going out to the bars with my girls. He knows not to expect me before 2am.
so I guess you could say I like to drink. We go out a LOT less than we used to but we both still enjoy going out.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I like it but maybe once every 2wks i'll have a couple of glasses. I like draft beer w/a green olive in it Yummy!!! My favorite is Rasberry Lambic. It's a Belgin Beer that's made and bottled like wine. Joe and I have date night every 2wks so I will have a drink every now and then. Joe is a big drinker and has beer ALWAYS in the fridge. I like some wine, but not many. My Dad's side are HEAVY drinkers and my mom's side rarely if ever drinks. I don't care either way it's just not for me. I REAFUSE to drink alcohol with dinner. I do not want to assocciate(?) food and alcohol. I think that's a huge issue with my dad. Plus having a lot of alcoholics in my family I tend to be more careful. I prefer to sit with a big glass of Coca Cola. Dorky I know, but to each his own I guess

wait. you put amaretto in your tea? as in hot tea or iced tea? please share.
I enjoy white wine at all times and I consider it my "treat" and my way to wind down on the weekends. I enjoy a beer with certain foods like a hamburger or mexican food. Margaritas to me, scream VACATION!
I hate getting drunk and I try not to. I am not the type of person who can get drunk, have fun and move on. THe last time I was drunk was about a month ago and I still cringe when I think of how I acted - don't get me wrong I didn't do anything over the top but just the fact that I let myself lose control. . . I can't get it out of my head for MONTHS.
I have pretty severe anxiety and the only way I can be out with large groups is having a beer or two, or a glass of wine or two to relax - but not enough to lose control.
I also have little patience with drunk people.
I also enjoy sangria when it is well made AND some strawberries with amaretto and sugar
i appreciate quirky drinks that i picked up in sicily: coke and red wine, lemonade and wine, hot vermouth fo a sore throat or any illness, red wine and fresh peaches. . . etc

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I am a horrible drinker.... DH always says that he would never get me drunk to get lucky - it would never happen - I am a total light weight - and it doesnt take too many drinks for me to puke and then pass out.
Attractive, I know
i have to make a plan to driink, and then expect to feel miseravle. Since I am a mom now, I never drink anymore. Its not worth it to me!

I find that I drink more NOW than when I was younger.
I think its because I dont drink to get drunk. I drink to relax...and I guess I need the relaxation more now than ever before!
Same for me!!
I love wine...all kinds! I am pretty much obsessed with it. I could drink a bottle or 2 a week or I could drink nothing for 2 weeks. Its very sporadic for me but I do love it.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I love drinking but my days of going out to a bar and staying out all night are done. I'm more inclined to have drinks at a friends house or have a couple of drinks at a bar after a movie. I guess you could say my partying days are over but my drinking days are not!

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
As long as people are responsible about it I'm OK with it but a lot of times they are not... So it can be a downer when that happens.
For me- I enjoy wine and champagne from time to time... with dinner and out socially but not really "often".
People who cannot go places without drinking make me feel very uncomfortable. It's like a person with social anxiety's "crutch".
The whole drunk driving thing is awful... really an epidemic. So, it's not a "bad" thing until people abuse it or take advantage of it. It's like anything in life- personal responsibility and not everyone has that.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I have to say this after getting pretty wasted tonite....Sometimes, it's just what you need. Trust me..after typing and retyping this post...it is still what I needed after the last couple of months.
There are times when letting your "hair down" and getting "drunk" are a great release....I did both of the above and I'm probably going to be sorry tomorrow but the great time I had tonight after all the lousy crap that's happened was well worth it!!

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
DH and I are not big drinkers but we are pretty similar in that we each have a few friends who like to drink and we usually find those people to be entertaining. I like to get a buzz going sometimes but I did not miss that even one bit while I was pregnant. We both grew up in Jewish households with not much alcohol.

I like to drink, and like to have a beer or wine at night after the boys go down. Do I drink to get drunk....NOT anymore because I dont like the way I feel when I wake up, and now that I have yound kids, even more of an excuse NOT to drink too much. If Im out I will have a beer or 2, but that is it.
Same here! Don't get me wrong, every once in a blue I'll find my self crawling to my bedroom, but it's not an everyweekend thing like it used to be
I enjoy an ocasional bottle of wine, beer, or Mojito (mmmmmm). And, lately, I've liked Praseco chapagne, not any other kind.
But now that I am trying to loose weight and also am so busy with the baby, I drink so rarely, like maybe once a month.

Right, I am not a big fan of drinking. To me, booze doens't taste all that nice, it is expensive, it makes me feel sick, and in general, I just think its bad for society in general (at least the society I live in)
So the question I put to you is...Alcohol, booze, plonk...whatever you want to call it. How do you feel about it? Do you like drinking? Does it really make you feel good??? How do you feel about drunk people?
Elaborate.
I agree with your first paragraph 100%. Now, I have like one drink a year. I don't really like what it does, how much it costs, etc.
As long as the drunks aren't driving, or causing danger to anyone, I find them entertaining to watch...

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
My DH and I drink moderately. We will have a glass or two of wine a few nights a week but never more than two.
I had 3 margartias the other night and it was awful. I can't have more than two drinks a night ever anymore.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I gave up drinking once I graduated from college. It makes me sick, plus I become a totally different person when I drink. I say things I shouldn't. So I could live without it.

I was a big drinker back in college however over the past few years I only drink socially, mostly wine or a Mike's or something.....it's not worth the hangover to me anymore.
